1. TE serial dates can be confusing, but as far as I can remember, first part is the type, next, the two digit number is the serial number ( I have seen numbers in the 90's BTW) mines 36 I think, next is the date, so 200 is, 2 = second quarter, 00 = year 2000, so 2nd quarter 2000. Mine is 301 = 3rd quarter 2001.

  2.
That picture is of Geddy Lee's actual double neck :) That's a picture from his equipment list off that tour haha. This is quite cool if you're a fender fan http://www.aliexpres...holesalers.html And this is just badassery! It certainly looks like an original, but Geddy has Badass bridges on his 4080's.

Why the Badass, mine really sings as standard and has a great deal more soul than a 4001.

  3. It came with a Black one??, pretty sure it's fake too, http://www.ebay.com/itm/RICKENBACKER-BASS-...=item27bde949ac

  4. OK.... :) time for a sticky thread, ''Denmark St, Music Ground and similar shops, You don't need to visit these places, They have nothing for the normal individual''.

By all means visit them if you have a cheeky nature and a retort the speed of Chubby Brown, wind them up and post your experiences here of how you get on, but if not there are hundreds of threads on how they treat people who stumble in unawares.

  5.
You can carry an 8x10 in one hand?!?! :)
Sure, one hand for the amp, the other to steer the cab.

The issues with the amps are interesting, Ive not managed to get mine to do what the problem ones do with the twin 210AV's, even so it's a concern, although it is limited to them and not other 4 ohm cabs?.

  6. Very good price, compared to the last years hike's.

I had a 2 on my precision, went back to the original and it sounds great. Have a 2 on my Jazz and it's a fantastic mod and have a 1 on my 4001 (not all can take these without a router, bad ) and it sings, massive improvement.

  7.
It never goes......never.

I'm thinking about unloading the Shuker because it's not getting played much, and I want either another Stingray or a Fender Jazz or Precision.

    Help me baby Jesus.
+1 if you think you made it through.......

I got into cycling 5 years ago and went quite gassy, 20 years before that it was old racing cars and now it's back to bass after 25 years, have I grown up! and got sensible , I don't think so, just more particular.

I think the abbreviation to GAS for those of us that have it, isn't good and a little to distant, a ''Sydrome'' is a very serious condition.

  8. Seen this guy before, he does a good ''Siberian'' although his sound is quite good I think it's helped along by the backing track, his treble pup is a lot more overdriven than CS's though as CS fuzz boxed his neck pup and the high treble and volume of the bridge pup was all he needed to get that sound.
Looks like a 74 he's using, so it's a smaller body and neck etc, but not like the period wafer 4001's without the skunk stripe, I've found my 72 gives as close as I can get to the CS sound, although my doubleneck is close too, SVT bright ch 1, on the bridge pup and either my bro's Vintage modern or Burman on the neck.

  9.
I would do a search on the net, I'm sure there is a step by step explanation somewhere and the 4003 is a lot easier than the 4001 to adjust. I have always done my own work on my 4001's.
Ok, back pedal on my input here, just looked at a video on Rickresource on 4001 truss adjustment, the screwdriver as a prybar was enough :) :) , take it to a tech.
