  1. Played my first gig with a new band last night. Having not played a gig for over 6 months I was really looking forward to it. Rock covers from 60s to now. The venue was outdoors. First set went really well and then it started to rain during the break and ended up being washed out. Punters were enjoying it, the band was having fun and sounding good. Stupid weather.

I would happily overplay if I could be as good as Jamerson

Fair point. I wish I had his ability too, I prefer simple understated lines with some fills. That doesn't mean just sitting on the root or anything lines can be melodic without being overly busy

Bwa-ha-ha-haaaahhhh!!! You MUST be trolling. You must be. :)

Not trolling. It is just my opinion. I am not saying that he wasn't a great player (he obviously is), just that his lines were often busier than they needed to be

  4. I prefer Stax not that there wasn't great music that came out of Motown. Duck Dunn's playing grooves like a groovy thing from the planet Groovy but I feel that Jamerson overplays a lot of the time.

Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more. I think Bons voice is great. He had amazing range and the best of all, his voice was unique

I love Bon's singing but he is not a technically great singer like Freddie Mercury was (for example) but what he did do was bring charisma, wit and charm to his vocals that very few have been able to do

Look at Jimi Hendrix or Bob Dylan. They got away with rubbish voices. It's all about projecting what you have.

Or Bon Scott, by no means a technically great singer but used inflection well. He was sleazy in a song like "Can I sit next to you, girl?" and menacing in a song like "Dirty Deeds"

Don't know if this track made it over to the UK but they were a one hit wonder in NZ.

I liked them a lot...apart from the aprons.

They had two big hits in Australia, this one and Hungry Town. Both great songs, even if they were quite similar to each other.

interesting about the light touch as there's quite a marked 'clank' of attack, very low action?

The clank comes from keeping his fingernails long on his plucking hand
