Of course, we should try and get Bootsy666 along with this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/259954-custom-8x15-bass-cabinet/page__pid__2823274__st__240#entry2823274 :D

I'm up north this weekend, otherwise I would have come along with the 8x15 and and a few amps.

2. Thanks for the positive feedback and the help. I think it's totaly finished now. I've just fitted larger wheels as it was a little hard to move on the small ones. And I've fitted fold away handles on the underside.
The grill is also finished, except for a badge maybe. I'll see about getting something custom made?

Haha, yep, and why not?

The Underworld has a good PA and very good house engineers - none of this DI nonsense when I played there last year, bass cab was properly miked - but I really wonder whether they'll know what to do with this one. :yarr:

I'll try tma mic, if it causes any issues then I'll just have to DI the back of the amp and mic up my second amp and cab.

Chalex industrial estate, right by Fishergate Station (over footbridge). It's pretty new, google PA Studio Brighton.

I went round to have a look at it, but it don't look like it was there anymore?

5. Any thoughts on the bugera btx36000 nuke? I've ordered one as a backup for live shows. Dirt cheap at €280 from France with free postage. I just thought I should have a spare amp that can power this cab if my marshall ever failed during a live show.

Thought it might have been you in Southwick, some serious bass shaking going on in there! Getting that into Brighton Electric would be fun with the parking around there!

Where's the place in southwick?

I have followed this thread silently since you started it and I now have to chime in and say that this is everything that a bass cab should be! Massively over the top and trouser-leg-flappingly awesome!

What date is your show at the Underworld?

Congratulations on getting this built - it is truly brilliant - mad, yes, but brilliant! Just don't start gassing for a pair :o

BTW, which rehearsal room did you use?
We normally use brighton electric, but they were fully booked so we had to use use ivy in Worthing

9. I tried it clean at first, and the room was quite big! It just sounded really smooth. The volume was 4, and the gain at 5, and it still took out 2 light bulbs in the roof. Then I tested it for 2 hours with all my pedals and I'm 100% happy with it.
And those rear ports are perfect, I could feel a steady flow of air coming out, thank you for that Alex.
I guess the people at the back of the room at the underworld will tell me how it sounds in June?
I'd like to test it with more volume really, but it wasn't our usual rehearsal place and the guy didn't sound happy about the noise haha.

10. Well.... The speakers are in and wired up, and I have to say it's possibley the best and lousiest cab I've ever heard! I can't hear any phase issues what's so ever.
Is a little on the heavy side now tho haha. I played it through it for 2 hours straight with drums and guitar and it just sounded like a good cab. https://instagram.com/p/2cDcezMFUv/

You should be able to get it into the Underworld but i can think of a few venues where you may struggle.

I know a few to avoid now haha.

Cool project - I'm still struggling to get my head around the size, could we have a pic of a bass leaning against it for some perspective please?
It won't let me upload any photos again? It says I've reached my limit before I've even selected a photo?

13. Looks like it's going to be middle of May before the speakers arrive! I only ordered them from thoman.de because they were the only people who claimed to have all eight in stock, and now they've just told me they only have four in stock until the 5th of May!

Alex has given you the solution to fixing. Abrade the pipe with rough sandpaper to get better keying. With the thickness of plywood you have, you could also additionally fix them in with some small screws from the inside of the pipe into the ply thickness. Hard to explain in words so here is a bad text sketch.

plywood ( <----|| screw screw ||--> ) plywood. Brackets represent port wall aka drainpipe.
Yeah, I was intending on doing that. I cut the holes a mil short so that the pipes had to be knocked in with a rubber mallet, nice and tight with lots of silicone seal.
