  1. In terms of modellers, the Helix is definitely the best one for bass - GT1000 is a bit poo, Axe doesn't have the variety of amps, and the Kemper sucks donkey Richard.

    If you're looking for a flexible solution, the Helix is pretty hard to beat. Saying that, you could build a decent bass rig from some single stompos, and probably be happier with it. Depends whether you want to be really specific and anal about what tones you want.

    There's a guy on the fretboard forum who powers his Stomp with a power pack and gets an entire gig with it.

    It is possible if you get the right kit.

    In fact he's a member here too...

    @digitalscream

    That might be what he's doing this week! 😆

  3. Right, I just threw some strings on the thing. I really like the way this bass plays, and it sounds nice and snappy. But I'd like to totally ditch the EMG's. Too plain Jane sounding for me and a bit dark. This is with 9V or 24V mod; they just sound cack to be honest.

    So I guess I'm looking at either new passives, or an entirely new system. I will do some digging around, but they're definitely the EMG DC35 sized mount.

  4. I've got this Fame Baphomet 4 bass that I bought ages ago. It cost me a fair chunk of coin and I've never really bonded with the sound of it, I think because of the stock EMG active pickups and a boring sounding EQ circuit. I like the snappy way it sounds when unplugged, but when plugged in it sounds plain Jane and meh.

    It has these DC35 pickups as far as I recall, and the cavities are cut specifically for that size pickup - what could I exchange them for??

    Failing that, what might the resale value be? It's a lefty btw.

  5. Been a while! I used to be on here under another account, but that email was dead and I can't access it anymore. I set this account up a while back but never actually used it! Don't even remember my original username; it was a loooonnnggg time ago, from back when I was primarily a bassist. So probably.... I dunno, 2006/2007?? I remember going up on the train to the North to buy a Yamaha bass off someone on here and that got me started!

    I used to post on The Fretboard; anyone from there will likely know me. It's a coinflip as to whether someone thinks I'm a knobhead or not. *shrug*

    I play guitar, drums, bass, keys, and I sing. I record and engineer and produce music with my band Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster - www.bridgedisaster.co.uk if you fancy a listen - and I also design drum software for a living, as well as record drum samples, go to studios, etc etc.

    Anyhoo, enough waffle. Hiya bae!
