1. Sympathetically restored 1963 Hofner Verithin serial no. 216. Neck straight and fretwork perfect. Finish has crazing and wear by the neck pickup consistent with the age of the instrument. Electrics completely overhauled. Non-original hardcase included. Offers sought in the region of £750. Sale only, no trades. Collection preferred (nr Kingston upon Thames) but delivery via courier can be arranged at cost.

  2. For sale (sorry no trades). Rick Turner Renaissance 4-string fretted bass. Built by the co-founder of Alembic, these basses are VERY hard to come by in the UK. This one was imported from Ed Roman’s shop in Las Vegas. It has never been gigged and is in pristine condition although it has seen light use in the studio so the Thomastic Acousticore strings (fitted as standard) could do with replacing.

The full spec (along with better pics than mine) is available here - http://www.renaissan...rs.com/bass.php. Uploading pics here has defeated me but I do have pics to send via PM if required.

I don’t have the original packaging and the instrument ships in a lightweight Levy gigbag. Consequently I’d prefer collection although I’m prepared to drive within a 50-mile radius of Slough. If you wish to arrange your own courier that would be fine. I’m looking for offers very close to £1250.00. Bass Central in Florida have a couple listed to give an indication to current prices. If you have any questions please ask!

I thought he was strictly Roxy Music at that time, and I didn't know he'd played with Capaldi. I've never heard of Voice Squad (? Vice Squad, maybe).
A bit off-topic I know but the Voice Squad were principally Frankie Collins, Dyan Birch and Paddy McHugh - originating in the Liverpool band Arrival and subsequently the voices in Kokomo (hence Spenner) and countless London sessions. Pure class.

You're right! I've had one of these on loan from AER for a couple of months now and it's an extraordinarily flexible piece of kit - PLENTY loud enough with a quiet-ish drummer. As far as I know it's the first AER product specifically voiced for electric bass (although it works wonderfully with my ABG) and has a fat, warm tone that suits my P-bass and Jazz perfectly. Everywhere I've used it, other band members have soured the stage looking for an extension cab. They cant believe that such a small box can produce such stout tone and volume. EQ is very musical with no unusable settings and the compressor is the first one I've ever wanted to use on stage. It evens out the response of my ABG really well. Build quality is exemplary (as it should be for the price!). I'm just dreading the phonecall asking for it back!

There are a few threads on Talkbass that are just as enthusiastic as I am. Check them out.

Go on, force yourself to listen to stuff like Money Money Money, Dancing Queen, One of Us...

    Some great melodic lines.
+1

    Couldn't agree more.

  6.
I'm going to go with;

    Keith Wilkinson (Squeeze)
    John Deacon (Queen)
    Jon Davis (Gryphon)
Good God!!!! That's me!!!! (Jon Davie - not Davis). :)

Coming to see us in London in June?

  7. I've only just noticed this section, so many apologies to Steve for not adding my two-pennyworth earlier. He bought my Bridge EUB about 1 month ago and was a pleasure to do business with. Highly recommended again!

  8.
not sure iv ever heard a passive wal before...how do they compare?
very versatile for a passive instrument - individual vol and tone controls plus master volume, 3-way pickup selector and series/parallel coil switching for each pickup. Hours of fun! The overall character of the sound with everything on 10 is VERY fat and round but there's plenty of mid-range bark on the bridge pickup if you want it and any number of variations between the two extremes. I found it easier to get a good solid tone with the passive rather than active version but that's just my personal experience.
