  1. Welcome, as someone who has been through a similar journey! I've found BassChat a very welcoming bunch, support always here and no question too stupid. There are some seriously knowledgeable people on here so dive in and learn!

  2. Sorry to hear this Mick, I was going to struggle with dates like many others.

Can you post details of the club so I can donate my attendance money to them - they provide a great service and deserve support.

Hope the next one isn't cursed with diary clashes.

  3. Just bought a Roland keyboard from Grangur. Deal was perfect, as you'd expect from a respected basschatter like him.

He was also friendly, helpful and made me a lovely cup of coffee while we chatted.

A delight to deal with, highly recommended!

  4. I bought a Roland sample pad from Jamie, perfect transaction and it arrived quickly (and extremely well packaged).

Honest and helpful, wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again. Highly recommended.

  5. I'm pretty sure I can make it - previous years' have been good fun.

  6. Welcome - I love folk music, please keep it up and enjoy the basschat forums - they are a knowledgeable and most importantly friendly bunch.

I'd recommend getting yerself along to a BC event in your area - great fun and I think you'd enjoy it....

  7. Totally agree with Bottle/JapanAxe on this one. I think he's guilty of poor etiquette/manners (maybe he comes from a church where the worship group is more of a free-for-all)?

However on this occasion perhaps the purity of music may well be secondary to leading the congregation.

As an aside I've heard some lovely examples of two bass players together; one holding down the rhythm, another playing a more complex melody over the top. An opportunity for you to show off your chops?

  8. Many thanks to Mick, Chris and all the contributors for making the event so memorable, and for all the attendees for making it so friendly and fun. I was really pleased to be able to offer some support on behalf of Farm Factory Studios.

Mick said I was allowed a small plug for the business, so here goes :-)

A couple of months ago a friend and I bought Farm Factory, a long-established and well-regarded rehearsal room and recording studio in Welwyn Garden City. This is not a corporate, short-term money-grabbing acquisition; but a long-term business, funded and run by local musicians, for local musicians.

As such, your views are incredibly important to us. Can I therefore ask a couple of small favours.

Firstly, if you’re a Facebooker, please like our FB page (https://www.facebook.com/farmfactorystudios?fref=ts). You’ll be the first to hear our news and any special offers. Our website (www.farmfactorystudios.com) is currently down, pending relaunch, but we’ll announce it on FB when it goes live again.

Secondly, if there’s anything you love, or hate, about us; or about studios in general, please PM me to let me know. We are always keen to know what we can improve, and any suggestions will help us tremendously.

It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) we’d be delighted to see you down at the studio. We have one recording studio and booth, six large and well-soundproofed rehearsal rooms (one DI’ed to the studio for live recording), plus four Ampeg SVT-350s and 8x10 cabs for anyone who wants to ‘go loud’.

It was great seeing you all today.

    Simon

  9. Hi NickD

I assume you meant to type noob not nood - I don't think the venue caters for naturists (TheGreek will confirm, though).

As a fellow noob I can assure you this event is extremely noob friendly. Just a friendly and supportive environment where you can meet and chat with other bass players (hobbyists, gigging musicians, pros and even some other beginners). In my experience no question too daft, and I wasn't forced on stage to play in front of everyone either.

I was similarly dubious ahead of last year's event (my first) but really enjoyed it. I'm sure you'd be made very welcome.

  10. I'll be able to come along, with a maple neck Fender P. Mick, I'll drop you a PM shortly.
