I agree there is very little difference between the two. I'd lean towards the MIJ as my preference but I reckon that's mostly in the pickups rather than the woods.

Wood wise I usually lean towards a maple neck but that's more of an aesthetic preference rather than anything to do with tone.

Selling my Ibanez SR600. Based in Leeds.

This is an awesome bass, the action is nice and low with no buzz. This is the model with Bartolini pickups so the electronics are great. The preamp is very versatile. It's super lightweight so is great for long gigs and rehearsals.

This has been gigged and has signs of use. I've taken some close up pics to show the scuffs.

Selling this because I need to thin the collection and raise some money to buy a new stage piano.

Could possibly post at buyer's cost but would prefer collection in person.

I'm putting out a feeler out with this, I wouldn't be devastated if it doesn't sell because it's awesome. But at the same time I need to raise funds to buy a new stage piano.

I think this is the only one of these in the country, so it's not something you can get hold of easily.

The control plate is actually chrome, not black as it looks in the photo. The rest of the hardware is black though.

I once owned a US built Peavey Forum from mid 90s. It was an awesome bass, if heavey.

If I remember I bought it for £120 and sold it for £100. Both prices were really cheap.

I agree with the others. If you like tinkering it's a great way to get a cheap, good quality bass, and it's good fun.

But for selling they're rarely with the sum of their components. Unless you find a buyer who happens to want exactly what you've made.

- neck dimensions (38mm nut, 20mm deep at 1st fret, 23 at 12th.

Well I do like a low action. But this isn't ridiculously low. And it's not close to buzzing. I can attack the strings a bit without unwanted noise.

It was in tune when it arrived too so I guess it didn't shift in transit.

My custom Elwood arrived today!



I'm proper chuffed with it. The craftsmanship is excellent and it plays like butter.

The setup out of the box is perfect for me too, which is unusual. Usually I've got the allen keys out within 5 minutes of opening the box.

I got my picture and paid yesterday lunch time. I got my shipping notification this morning. Expected delivery on Friday.

So once the payment arrives it should be quick.

I played one of these once, and really liked it.

The tone was awesome and it was comfortable to play.

I can't imagine myself ever owning one though. The style is not really me.

I've found the loudest gigs to be the smaller venue ones. The loudest gigs I've been to haven't really been named acts.

I think the most uncomfortable my ears have been was at a small festival in Chester. Small line array system cranked way too high. Since then I've been very careful with my ears at gigs.

FYI: Scott's bass is still in the prototyping stage and he's not yet convinced by the reverse P. So there's a good chance it'll be a standard P pickup when the final model is revealed.
