1. elling this well loved and well gigged P Bass on behalf of my late friends family.

Why pay for an artificial 'reliced' guitar when you can have the real deal?
All original except one knob.Refretted by me 3 yrs ago and and has no wear on the frets at all. Finished in Mocha brown,a colour you dont often see with wear and dings add to the character of this bass?
Plays lovely too!
Im open to sensible offers.
Comes with Hiscox case.
Prefer collection but will ship at buyers expense.
Any questions,please ask?
Thanks for looking.

Andyjr - These photos do it no justice because of the file size limitation, but trust me, it looks bloody amazing, and it's used every day as it is kept in my recording studio. I play in a Ska band and it gets used every gig, even while it was only half done.

TheGreek - Terry is brilliant, he matched the trim and remade the neck trim and even made it look like it was done in 1964, he re-fretted it and managed to get that neck separated and then put back without damaging the guitar...Amazing!

when are you having the logo fitted lol???

Ive just finished another Hofner violin bass restoration from a guy on here,he saw yours and sent it to me,thanks.

3. Hi There, Im looking for a pic of a '70's Hofner beatle bass from the side as I want to see the shape of the neck as it goes over the body.Im having to replace this together with the fretboard section as its been hacked off.Dont go there......

I would really appreciate if some of you good fellows could do this for me as I cant find the angle pic on the net?

Hi Jamie and all readers,

As Jamie has raised this issue I feel it's probably not right to simply describe the set-up as "crap". So here's some more information to be fair to the shop.

The bass was an Ibanez EBS600, No real problems but a slight buzz at the 9th fret on the E string. I was a noob and didn't know what the problem was. So I took it into the Bishops Stortford shop and was simply told, it needs a setup, £75 please. I agreed and left it there. I got a phone call later suggesting a new set of strings; £25 more or the set up would be a waste of time.

2 weeks later it was ready for collection. I got it home and found the intonation was out and there were far more buzzes on all strings, right up to the 5th fret. Nice low action but not good. I took it back and was told to take it to their Ware shop to discuss it. I went to Ware, 10 miles away. They agreed it was unusually poor set up, but their guy is amazing so this was a freak situation.

After another 2 weeks it was ready, but again I should go to Ware to collect it. It was ok-ish, but the action was amazingly high. Being a vertigo sufferer, I then took to watching vids on you tube I did a better job myself. I now build basses for myself and do my own set ups and re-build the electrics, so I wont have a problem now. :)

If I can help further do let me know.

Kind offer Jamie, but if you're a separate business now, I don't expect you at De Rosa Music to fork out a refund. At the time Playsomething in Ware just told me I was too fussy and to go away.

With respect to only using qualified engineers; That's nice. But a qualified slap-dash guy is worse than a good enthusiastic amateur.

I now go to Gig Gear in Harlow for all my needs and can't speak highly enough of their service.

Cheers
Richard

PS if anyone in the area wants a set up I do a great job! :D

Edit: yes June 2011 is about right. But memories of bad service are long.

That would be a very basic set up then?

Do you level frets etc,cut nut slots with the CORRECT files, what relief do you aim for,for say a 71/4" rad neck?

5. Hi all,
New here.
I just wanted to know if anyone had the finish lifting and cracking on a stingray bass?
Ive a customer who bought one to my workshop and it was in a dreaful state!!

The black poly had massive cracks and was starting to peel. I removed it with an acoustic bridge knife (no solvents or anything)
Underneath was a layer of sticky green whatever it is lol???

I removed that and underneath was another layer of clearcoat.

I contacted MUsic Man and thier reply was `its delamination`.no really??
