How far would you be willing to travel?
I work in bromley so it would be easy enough to go to anyone around there or near there!!
Thank you so much for your help
and thanks everyone for your comments - i was starting to think it was just me -
In my looooooooooooooooong hunt for a bass tutor i went for a lesson a week ago, tutor takes me through to the room we shall be playing in with only 2 small guitar amps and his 2 cheap (unnamed) guitars and proceeds to try to tutor me bass whilst using his guitar.
he knows no modern music, gave me nothing to have acheived by the next lesson and lifted £20 off me
Gave me a sob story (i am a sucker) so i rebook a next lesson!! but i have nothing to learn for it, he covered all stuff i already know and all we basically did was i played a bassline (song of his choice) whilst he played guitar and sang over it (felt exactly like a pub jam but without the beer and fun)
ok everyone what i want to know - is this the best tutor i am going to find?
i have been turned down over the phone by 2 other tutors for being a girl and for being too old (27!!!) apparently my small girls hands will mean its too hard to teach me
Help - should i get rid of this tutor and carry on looking or keep forking out £20 a pop? -
Hi girls!!
am glad to see theres more of us than i thought!!

Hi
Welcome!! -
its a lovely bass, just too heavy for lil ole me - plus the neck is just too beefy for me to play comfortably!!
plus the guilt factor of just having bought the gibson lol (was a bargain tho) -
Bugger it - i just bought the ltd edition gibson sg in fireburst! (like any more instruments are needed in this house!! - 17 guitars - 4 basses - drums - 5 amps (cabs and heads) and a yamaha 2 tiered grand organ!!
maybe it should be one in, one out!!
anybody looking to buy a nice vintage aria lol -
Welcome
Only £2!!! You're lucky
No where else is that cheap here - its so bad in there thats what they are reduced to try to get punters in!! -
Ahhh Rochester. Last time I was there (some years ago) I was being thrown out of Amadeus! Is that still there?
Sadly it is - something hideous like £2 a drink and nasty music that sounds all the same (or maybe thats just down to the drink!!) -
thanks guys
I am in Historic Rochester ... home of dickens and...... ah well thats all really
I work in sunny Bromley - which has no decent music shops in it at all! - very sad as i used to work 5 mins away from denmark street in london -
Hi
Am in north Kent, born and bred lol
how about you? -
Hi
I found this site today! i am a fairly new bassist - keep self teaching then stopping then starting!! I have had some problems with trying to find a bass tutor (apparently too old and wrong sex!!)
I am now committing myself to this and really enjoying it, next step is a proper tutor. I live with a mental guitarist and so know ALOT about guitars but not as much about basses so this site seems very helpful and friendly
I currently have a (please don't laugh) Daisy rock p-series type bass (lovely slimline neck for my hands) a good phat active ibanez and a lawsuit era aria - a fantastic bass but just too chunky on the neck for me!
Musical influences - most rock (and a bit of a van halen thing!)
Anyway - thought i would say hi and that i look forward to being a part of this forum! -
Hi
Is this still for sale?
Thanks
