  1. My apologies.

I knew I’d replied! Good news though, I’m not losing the plot.

Though for the record I wasn’t making an offer or trade. Just making the vendor aware that I have the rare amp he’s hunting.

    I will pm him.

    Best regards.

    Dave.

  2. Nice!

Yeah, all the Ormat stuff is pretty clean. I’ll bet you could rattle the fillings out of your teeth with the right cabs.

Im disappointed that it’s all going, but I should be left with a good wedge when it’s all gone and that’ll be used for something sensible rather than more gear (famous last words).

Cheers for the congratulations too.  I’m chuffed to bits.

  3. I hope you’re somewhere nice and sunny and you’ve got your feet up.

The power and pre amp serials don’t often match up as Matamp delivered the completed chassis to Orange who then put them into the boxes which they sourced from elsewhere. There were a few different formats for the pre amps including the PA mixer, slave and lead/bass/organ variations.

A fair chunk of the collection has gone now. I’m waiting on my or200  getting fixed currently, then I’ll refurbish the box and put that up.

I finished my masters last month so I’ll have a bit more time to get stuff moving.

  4. Nicely done! That's a damn good packing job too.

A couple of month back I would have offered to look through the serial book at the factory but I've a new job and can't get over as much as I used to. If you gave Jeff a ring he might have a look for you if he's not snowed under.

What's the sn? Mine is 393 and it's from 73. They made them for orange until 75 and I think the final number of them went up to the mid four hundreds but don't quote me on that.

  5. Damnit all these Lull basses are killing me at the minute.

I'm hoping this'll be gone by the time I get back off holiday, but if not would you be interested in any trades? I'm having a big clear out so there'll be some Barefaced/Weber/Matamp/Orange Matamp to choose from if so.

  6. Hi Bill.
Cheers for getting in touch. I've certainly got a mountain to climb with this project.
I'm looking forward to the challenge though. Is there any reading you can recommend on the theory side to get me going please?
    All help is much appreciated.

  7. Hi all.
I'm starting my final year at uni in September and for my independent study module I am doing a research paper on modern lightweight bass cabs.

It's going to be a challenge as I'm a little bit clueless on the subject.
I'm going to build a Fearful cab or two and plan on tackling some of Bill Fitzmaurice 's designs.
My Google-fu has got me so far, but I was hoping that some of you fine people may be able to recommend me some reading matter.
I'm well aware that Alex Caber and Bill Fitzmaurice are active on hear so hopefully they will be kind enough to advise me.
I've downloaded winisd so far and started to compile a spread sheet of specs that I'll be using with it.
Are there any other programs that do the same job that I should also look at.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Dave.

  8. I run a daft rig too.
I use a Matamp GT200 into a Barefaced '69er and a Weber Mywatt 200 into a Berg nv412. They're both on pretty much full tilt too.

    It's like having a massage.

Mostly I use them one at a time through an A/B box for different tones and have both on for the heavy bits. It works a treat.

I am aware of how excessive this is, but it works for me.

  9. Hi Jim.
I've used quite a few of the above cabs with my mk1.
The Matamp 2x12s are really good. They're pretty old school. In spite of that they hold up well against modern cabs.
I've got a Berg 4x12 and that's got a ton of low end. The preferred cab with the GT though is a Barefaced 69er. That holds together with the stupid settings I use.
There's more low end with that than the berg 6x10 I got to a/b with the 69er.
    All great cabs though.
