Didn't realize they were set up differently, but I suppose that makes sense. And well, I'm not sure of what to make of that. Not sure if the wrong card came with the bass (either from Dingwall or while BassDirect had it), or if it was for some reason ordered this way O.o

They just simply (no pun intended) switched it up for the D-Roc to give it a unique sound from the rest of the models with three pickups. Probably the wrong card in this case. :)

@Stockholm Syndrome Not sure what you are asking, but hopefully I can answer it.

The D-Roc's control layout (showing pickup selection) is shown in the 2nd to last pic. It shows:

       1 - Bridge

       2 - Bridge/Middle Series (MM-Style)

       3 - Bridge/Neck Parallel (J-Style)

       4 - Neck

Checking my D'Bird's control layout, it appears to be different. D'Bird is listed as:
       1 - Bridge

       2 - Bridge/Middle (parallel)

       3 - Middle

4 - Bridge/Middle (parallel) in series with Neck.

So the two are different. Not sure why.

Exactly, the note in the picture describes how Dingwall usually are wired, but the D-Roc has a different switching just like you described. You answered the question perfectly. :)

Yep, I think you said that when I put a post up here last year when I bought it.

    It is their 6 string neck, used for a wide 5 spacing I believe- 17mm x 6 = 102 , and 21 x 5 = 105. That’s how my logic works
I’m not sure how cost would pan out, as you’d have to change the nut, bridge and pick ups too

The math is correct, but technically :):

17*5=85 since there’s only 5 “gaps” between strings in a sixer. 85/4 is then 21.25. So same result, but what you described is for a 7-string versus a sixer.

Anyway, this wide spacing would fit my spider fingers so perfectly… too bad it’s on the other side of the pond. I miss my old Modulus. :(

Yes! Now it is vol/vol setup insted of the original vol/balance with both volume pots being push-pull ones for coil tap.

Thanks for the compliment, all the glory goes to Stuart Spector and crew 🙂

Does it have wide string spacing (19 mm), or are my eyes just fooling me?

Update: I have replaced the EMG 45DCs with EMG 45TWX's. While I liked the DCs I think the TWX has a slightly rounder sound that works well with the ebony board and ash/maple setup. The sound became less brittle in the upper registers, the low end slightly less the strong mids remained and became even more pronounced. Also one of my observations is that the Aguilar OBP seems to work better or more effective with this pickup, especially the lows. As I use the TWX's in my other Spectors I pretty much knew what the swap would do but still I'm happy how this turned out.

Did you get the coil splits as well?

    Gorgeous bass! ❤️

    Hi Dave

Each pickup has it's own split on its respective volume control so you can run any combination of humbucker & single coil. With both pickups in single coil mode it does sound very much like EMG's J pickup set, a favourite of mine. Oddly enough i had comtemplated the exact same thing but the delivery time & lack of a discount steered me to this one. I can't say i was disapointed, it is a very versatile setup, I particularly like the bridge in singlecoil & neck in humbucking which is very full sounding but with a bit of Jazz like honk.

Do you have anything recorded with the bass?
