New purchase courtesy of Bloc Riff Nut. Not found out how loud it is but for a 400 watt valve amp made by Trace Elliot its lighter than expected.

That's crazy! I've never seen one of those before. Let us know how it sounds. -
The new EHX Clone Theory's are really noisy compared to the old ones. I have the vintage one and there's virtually no noise at all.
-
Funny I was just telling someone about those yesterday. I don't have one but the amp modelling for specific sounds (i.e. "Leeds") always seemed cool to me.
-
Thanks, guys! Still loving it!

Look what arrived yesterday! My "new" 1982 Yamaha BB1200S. I have been pining for one for a while and I can't believe I finally have one let alone in the color I wanted too. It's battle worn with a few nicks and dings but that's all overshadowed by the sound it makes. I've never played a thru-neck bass before. THE TONE! I CAN'T BELIEVE THE TONE!!!

But which ones the best for metal?
And is there a danger playing metal too close to the magnetic pole? -
That's so true and all the more so when you're playing with the machine head of your D string perfectly in line with the South Pole.
South Pole in relation to magnetic north or the other one? -
I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It's just an affordable alternative for someone who's a fan and couldn't afford a Geddy Lee Fender otherwise.
-
Go ahead, live a lie. Otherwise go the Neepheid route.

It's a bit wishy washy to be honest.
Agreed. Way too safe. -

I use a funny thing on the bass called a volume control.
Wait. What? Can you buy these online? Who am I kidding? You must have a custom bass. -

Thank you for saying thumb. -

I may post a pic of it in guitar porn and risk the ridicule for posting such a bettered old warrior on there.
Really must get the nut replaced.....

Please do! I just purchased a "bettered old warrior". It should be arriving this week.

I've seen Sound City several times now. Can't get enough of it.
