1. I’ve been caught by this Zooh/Kasem H … Hipshot DeTuner available as per my wanted advert. Payment sent via PayPal… heard nothing since .. emails go unanswered & zooh has disappeared. Obviously I should have checked the forum first!  Beware!!

2. Hi all,

My set up is Genzler Magellan 800 head with Aguilar SL410… flat wound strings on a Fender Precision with Lindy Fralin pick ups. I’m looking for a pedal which will get me close to Lemmy’s Ace of Spades growl for a couple of songs… anything you could suggest?

Thanks all.

3. NOW SOLD…..NOW SOLD

Selling my Aguilar DB115 cab. In excellent condition . Comes with vinyl padded Hotcover. Has seen very little use due to lockdown etc. Collection preferred, but I can deliver if within an hour’s drive from me (Lincolnshire). Great cab… here’s what Aguilar say about it…

This cabinet was designed to have great low-end extension but with the punchy midrange that is the signature sound of the DB cabinet line. This combination makes the DB 115 full enough to reproduce the deep presence of a multi-string instrument while being focused enough to accommodate all playing styles. The DB 115 is versatile enough to pair with either the DB 210 or DB 410 for a very powerful full range rig or as a great standalone cabinet!

DB 115 400W 1x15 8 Ohm Bass Speaker Cabinet Specifications:

Speaker Compliment: One 15" cast frame woofer, 95 oz. magnet

Power handling: 400W RMS.

Impedance: 8 ohms.

Frequency response: 32 Hz - 3 kHz.

Sensitivity: 96 dB 1W 1M.

Dimensions: 21 x 24.5 x 17.5 in.

Weight: 71 lb.

4. Hi all,

Our Band has been on the go a good while now.. we all have full time jobs and responsibility for marketing the Band, getting & organising bookings, clients liaison etc has usually been taken on by different individuals within the Band over the years. The current incumbent in that position can’t devote time to it anymore due to work constraints so we’re looking at possibly out sourcing  the management of the bands diary. Does anyone have any recommendations for a company/individual in that field at all? We have in the past been registered with various entertainment agencies but our experience is you get a link on their website & that’s about it... very little in the way of active marketing/promotion. If anyone has any pointers or advice I’d appreciate it.. We do have a website, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter but we need someone to take on running the Band without actually having to play,

Cheers,

R.

5. My current set up... Genzler Magellan 800 head, Aguilar SL410X cab, GB Rumour bass with Lakland Duck Dunn bass as 2nd option. Nice compact & light rig with loads of power. I’m very pleased with it.

6. Haven’t posted for a while. Here’s my Rumour4 number 0052 made for me by Bernie in 2001. I sold it a few years back when I stopped playing. In 2017 I was offered the opportunity to re-join my old Band, and I was able to buy back my bass (I’d kept tabs on its whereabouts) . I won’t be parting with it again!

7. Hi all,

I’d appreciate any recommendations for bass cab stands please. I use 2 x Aguilar SL112’s which are very small & compact , could just do with raising them up a bit (footprint is 19ins W x 18 ins deep) I’m finding that as they’re so low to the floor I’m struggling to hear myself as the sound goes past my knees! Need to be fold away also

Thanks

8. Andy was kind enough to sell back to me, my GB Rumour made for me by Bernie which had come into his possession. A very easy & smooth process and a huge thank you to Andy for making it happen.

9. Thanks for the replies everyone, I must say, having seen your comments & read the reviews, I am edging towards the Rumble 500. I like the idea of amp/cab in one hand & bass in the other - a concept I'm not used to!
Cheers for now,

10. Hi all,

please excuse me, I've been out of the loop bass wise for a few years, but I'm dipping my toe back in the water. In 2008 when I retired from playing, my main stage rig was GB Rumour4 bass, through an EBS TD650 with 1 x 15 & 4 x 10 EBS Proline cabs.We had road crew so size/weight was never an issue. I'm now inflicting myself on the general public again, and wanted a powerful yet lightweight combo since I'll be hauling it around myself. Min. output of 300 watts preferred. Could I ask your assistance to advise whats out there currently please, that would be suitable?
Many thanks

11. Hi all,

I retired from playing in 2008, and at that time , my main stage set up, was all EBS - TD650 head with ProLine 4 x 10 & 1 x15 cabs. Great gear & a wonderful sound. Didn't care too much that it was big & bulky & heavy as my Band had road crew so I just turned up & played. Haven't played since, & I sold all my EBS stuff, and I now have an opportunity to get back to playing again with my old Band.No road crew this time though, and as a few years have passed I'm bit out of the loop equipment wise. Looking for pointers towards a decent combo type set up, with at least a 2 x 12 set up as a minimum, lightweight, but with plenty of power (prob 350-400w minimum). Would appreciate any advice or guidance, to small yet light & powerful set ups. Is there such a thing out there these days?

Thanks

No I'm happily retired from all things bass at the moment Barrie. All of my guitars & equipment have been sold. Who knows, I may get the urge again, but it would have to be something very special to tempt me back. All the best to you, and next time I'm Down South on the Electraglide, I'll give you a shout.
Cheers

13. It's a tough call Barrie, in my 13pc Soul band days, we doubled our fee for NYE (£4k), but this was at an established venue which we'd played many times & always packed out. The same venue coughed up £10k for Millennium eve! If nothing else comes in, & you want to be out NYE, I'd take the money & play. If you hold out for more, you run the risk of ending up with nothing as you've already said. Put it to the democratic vote & go with what the majority of the Band want. (Mind you, this WAS always easier when there's 13 of you!)
Hope you're well anyway,, long time no see!

All the best,

Grahame (FBB)

14. Excellent thread, has had me laughing all afternoon, I have had some shockers in my time, & someone even mentioned one that I did own, but nobody else had ever heard of them (Gherson Jazz!). I didn't dream it then!
The most dissapointing bass I ever had was a genuine 1973 Gibson EB3 bass I bought when I had a spell in a Cream tribute band. I'd always wanted one anyway, having been a big Jim Lea fan, and the chance came to buy one. After a few gigs, I realised what a pile of sh*te it was, very heavy, the neck used to dive so much, I had to have a velcro strip on the underneath of the strap, and a matching one on my shoulder, just to keep the thing level, even then it used to almost pull my shirt from my back! Awful tone, ranging from muddy, to very muddy, to fart in the bath. I was obviously blinded by love when I first saw it & overlooked its deficiencies, but then I did exactly the same when I met the wife!!

Cheers

15.
TI's fit the bill perfectly IME.
They are flats though so you might not like them if your a rounds guy.
+1 for the T.I. flats, very soft feel & low tension. The best strings I've used (and I've tried loads!) Have all my basses strung with T.I. flats & won't use anything else now.

Cheers

I thought it was just me! I'm glad he ambushed someone else! When I went down to Croydon to get my Rumour (Now owned by BC'er sgh), I too came away with 2 Proline cabs & a HD350 that I hadn't planned on having. Once I heard it though I had to have it! Crafty sod! Bernie is a top guy. Sorry to hijack the thread. This is a nice bass.
Cheers
