Price drop to £475

I am selling my Player Series Mustang Bass as I have eyes on another short scale Bass. It is in great condition and plays and sounds fantastic. You will notice that I have had the "recommended" modification that is removal of the selector switch and replace this with a tone control. This is now effectively wired as per a Jazz Bass. i.e. a volume for each pickup and overall tone control. I had this done professionally. Also comes with a gig bag. This is collection only.

There are high quality pots with metric shaft diameters too, like MEC. They could be a great option too, and don't require enlarging any holes. I have them in my Jazz, my custom Ellio Martina and (obviously!) in my Warwicks and like them. The taper is nice, they feel solid. My only gripe is with the ones with center detent: over time, it becomes less noticable. On my 2002 and 2003 Warwicks the detent in the EQ pots has become more vague over time. Then again, that's 20+ years of use!
Thanks for the info...any idea on suppliers and the product codes?

I recently got hold of a Fender Player series Mustang Bass....it plays great!!
However I want to mod the electronics.
I got hold of some Fender CTS 250K pots only to find the threaded portion will not go through the holes in the control plate.
Any one got any idea what pots are slight smaller that the CTS threads?
thanks

Honestly I think the P pickup on these basses is great, you can upgrade but imo it is not necessary, the J pickup is worth upgrading, bridge can be upgraded but again I don't think it's necessary.
I think the thing that is worth upgrading is the machine heads as the stock ones are junk and if I still owned a Mustang I would put some Gotoh tuners on it.
With regards to the controls, if you are looking to upgrade them then I would put in a series/parallel switch in place of the pickup selector and swap the volume tone for 2 volumes or stacked volume controls plus a tone control.
Hi thanks for your suggestions.
Which J pickup would you recommend?
Will the Gotoh tunes drop straight in?
Where would you source the stacked controls and switch etc?

Just purchased a Fender Player PJ Mustang Bass which plays extremely well.
However I was wondering about upgrades. Almost every thing. Bridge, Pickups. controls, jack and switch, and machine heads.
Anyone done this or have recommendations, suggestions?

yep good experience for me too. Bought a Korg electric piano. A piece was broken, I sent them a photo and the new piece was sent out from Korg.
What this tells me is that they don’t check the good prior to delivery.

yes that is exactly my feeling. Does not encourage you to deal with these people.

I had one of their RedSub amps as my main amp for nearly 12 years. No complaints here.
I am sure the products may be completely OK but their lack of openness concerns me.

I am attempting to buy a Fender Custom shop Bass and asked for some extra pictures (apart from those on the web site) so that I can check on one or two details. Not much to ask for a Bass costing around £4K but they tell me that Fender will not allow them to open the Bass?

Has anyone here purchase bass equipment from Gear4Music?

I purchased the Bass around 7 years ago at Wunjo in Denmark Street, London.
I could not believe it was all original with the original case and such good condition.

There used to be a member on here that sold some really nice old Basses. I think his name was Simon? His Bass chat user name was a number?
Anyone know if his is still active on here?

Lovely old Bass. Interesting price?

I have noticed recently that the price of these basses have gone up quite a lot hence I have reverted to my original asking price of £3000. Bearing in mind the condition of this Bass in a "Custom' colour with original case I think this is a reasonable price for a vintage instrument.

What is the difference between this and the MM classic. Also have MM not released a model true to the initial specs with "radio" knobs etc.

Just to try and give some information re the comments by spoonhunter.
The sale length is 34 inches. The Frets are the same spacing as a regular 34 inch sale length Bass.
The length from nut to 15th Fret is just under 20 inches.
The length from nut to end of headstock is 10.5 inches.
hope this answers the question.
