You'll survive with a black one, of course, but doncha come back and complain!

Wait BassTractor, what can be wrong with the black one? I do hope you're not just ranting because of the colour ) Personally I like black but I think you're saying there's something more to it.
And trust me, nothing would make me happier than buying a ray 35 but there is no way I can afford it new right now, and there is no way I'm buying it second hand.
Chepo 5-string? Yes it is Mr Fretbuzz (FRETBUZZZZZZ) but when you can't do with anything better? -
First off, thanks to everyone for the worm welcomes, everyone seems so nice on here
(writing my last post I accidentally pressed Ctrl + W just as I was about to finish... $%#^$&^&@*%&*$#@$)
After a lot of debates with two friends one of them made an excellent point for a Ibanez GSR205-BK Black: I like Dream Theater songs, specifically I like John Myung's playing style and I've tried in the past to play his songs on a 4-string guitar which was more or less the equivalent of trying on skinny jeans when you're 200lbs or more.
Since monsieur Myung doesn't fancy making songs for 4-strings I was left with no choice but to get myself a 5 string-er (as one of my friends suggested) since the whole point of learning an instrument is to play whatever the hell is your coup of tea.
Oh, he also has one and I tried it out at his house... I indeed approve but i'll need to grow longer fingers! So now I'm 300 quid short (bass, case, picks, leed, tuner, etc) and eagerly awaiting Wednesday when work will become a lot more interesting.

Hello all you bassists out there!
My name's Justin but you may call me whatever you deem appropriate. I've played bass on and off in the past (something like a child plays with its Legos to pass the time) and now that I've finished my studies and my responsibilities start at 8AM and stop at 5PM I really want to pursue my little passion for the thick-stringed electric guitar.
I've owned in the past a Squier Affinity P-Bass (Metallic Red) which served me really well, but alas when I changed countries to start University studies I had to lave the poor fella behind.
But no more lolly-gagging, this is the real deal. I'm signing up for a class on how to play and want to learn properly. I'm currently looking for a bass to buy but i'm also slightly on a budget (My heart's pretty much settled on a Yamaha RX170 but I'm open to suggestions).
I'm really hoping to make a few friends here, meet other like-minded people (you don't really meet bassists/guitarists just running up and down the streets do you?) and learn... a lot! As our friends from across the pond would put it: learn a sh*t-ton.
If you have any questions, enquiries or curiosities please don't hesitate to ask.
Ta-ta!
