Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and new to bass (but have played guitar for about 30y) seems like you guys know a thing or two about bass!!! I've just bought a Squier Bronco short scale bass guitar and as reported in various reviews around the net it is a nice little bass with one or two weaknesses. Most obviously the pickup is weak. It is a Squier strat pickup and I would like to upgrade this because there isn't much punch or depth to the sound particularly on the E string. Some people have fitted an EMG Select strat pickup and others have fitted a proper P-Bass type pickup. Could you advise me on the best way to go, I don't mind routing the bass and modding to fit a different shaped pickup but there's no point in doing that if the EMG or some similar equivalent pickup would do the job. The other thing that could do with upgrading is the bridge that only has two saddles shared by two strings each so there isn't much room for doing proper intonation adjustment (which it definately needs). Anyway, if anyone can help or advise I would appreciate it.
