  1. Don't you know the Translucent Matte Black finish on the Yamaha bb734a could be like the satin finish?
Long time ago I had a Cort C5H black satin and its finish was fantastic and I started to use the bass and the finish of the body became glossy in small circles due to my hand and sweat. And these glossy areas were unremovable. And that was not so cool.
I'm thinking about a Yamaha bb734a but I'm not sure which should I choose.
BB734a black owners what do you think?

I think the first one is the Yamaha and the second is some kind of Fender. Both sound great!

They both sound good. No 2 is a little deeper and punchier to my ear, but there is not a lot in it.

Yes, the first one was the Yamaha, the second one was a Fender American Standard Precision.
I feel the Yammy a bit better with finger, but with the pick the Precision was better for my ears.

    And I'm still looking for a Yamaha 1024x :D

  3. Hi Guys,
I made a short sound sample with 2 guitars, with a more expensive bass and with the Yammy 424x.

I would like to listen this sound file and compare the 2 sounds. If I play the bass I feel the shape of the body I feel the resonance of the body and the neck, I can see the the guitar. It is not an objective comparison.
But I would like to make an objective comparison, that's why I made this sound sample. And just for fun :D
Both have Elixir 45-105 strings,  just plugged into the Scarlett Solo 2nd, no amp simulation, just the dry line signal.

The specs of the 2 basses are absolultely different, but the sounds are not so far from each other. I can hear the difference, but to tell you the truth, I can't hear the 1000-1300€ difference between the 2 sounds.

What do you think, which is which?
    Wich one is the better?

    part 1: bass#1 finger
    part 2: bass#2 finger
    part 3: bass#1 pick
    part 4: bass#2 pick

All the extras on the 1024x you've mentioned are definitely nice to haves (as is the better looking bridge piece on the 5 string versions). But for me the biggest difference in sound is down to the pups.

The 424 pups carry a serious punch! Whereas the 1024's are more civilised and harmonically richer sounding. I really love my 1025, but enjoyed having my BB 425s (I sold the first one and regretted it, so replaced it with another which also ended up in the possession of a fellow BCer).

Anyway you're right, white is best colour for Yammy BBs 😁

If I get a white x version,  it is possible that I will keep both

  5. I have a lots of basses but I don't have a PJ. I wanted a passive PJ and I read a lots of things about features: spline joint body, 45° bodythrough strings and so on and I think these are better than another bass in the same price range.

Of course the 424 doesn't have spline joint body and 5 piece maple-mahogany neck (maple-nato as I know), that's why I'm looking for a BB1024x.
But for now for testing the shape of the body, the neck this 424 is really good. And I hope there will be a 1024x for sale in the near future.:D
