1.
I found them uncomfortable and not great in comparison to others available on the market, But I guess the premoulded shape may not have been good for my ears. Maybe I have little lugs.. I would def go for Elacin/Heroes/Etymotic Research ER20's for the cheap option and ER9/15/25's for the best option, having tried most of the plugs available on the market lol!!

    Cheers Dan,

The ER20's are a little uncomfortable for me, think I got weird ears :) Just tried a sample set of docs pro plugs this morning from BR distribution, nice chap sent me all sizes for free (for sizing not for using live) I'll take your word on the protection they offer.

Next stop, ER9,12 and 25's then Elacin then some Heroes

  2. Hi Pip,

I only ever use a 4 string in our band, we're a type of Prog Rock, Rock, Fusion, band thing :)

We do some instrumental stuff, I don't tap or slap ever, I don't reckon those techniques are a must in a Prog/Instrumental band, great if you use them but doesn't matter if you don't

What I do find helpful is getting into odd time sigs, being able to count often helps in that situation especially if you're playing a unison riff with an evil time sig, so I would try counting odd things. I find when I crack an odd count the riff or complicated line comes a little easier.
Our situation is similar to Sibobs but with one guitar, we too learn, write and jam together.

A link or two if you fancy it:

  3. Just looking at these:.. Sibob mentioned them. How did you go about getting the right size? Thought I'd try them I normally use ER20's but they're a little uncomfortable.

  4. Cheers Jim, pleasure to deal with you, I forgot to click your link so I added another feedback for you by mistake

but I reckon the deal was worth two anyway, nice one

    Jase.

  5. Sorry if anyone has seen / heard this, it's from the drummer who was with the CC. Riders. He's put some old cassette recordings on his myspace page featuring Jaco, some good grooves and a 1972 distorted bass / drum solo :)

  6.
I bought my bass in 1981. It still has the same strings on it now!

    :)
No way, you're kidding!!!!

I use a quick wipe of Fast Fret before and after playing, seems to lift a little sweat and grime, Rotosound never last that long for me anyway.

I noticed Kiwi uses D'Addario steels, how do get on with them Kiwi? Just I was thinking of maybe trying the super bright set.

  7. You can't go wrong with a MIJ Jazz, as good as a USA in my opinion. I'm gassing after a 62 fretless.
Do you know about this chap:

I've seen some nice stuff on there.

  8.
I have always fancied a Badass bridge but i felt that the Badass 2 was abit too big. I really like the look of Badass 3 and i have just put one on my USA Jazz and i have to say i am over the moon with it. I liked the orginal american bridge and i could defo tell the difference in quality between that and a mex but i was dissapointed when the screws and springs begun to rust after only a handfull of gigs. So anyway the badass 3 cost me about £57 with postage from the USA. I ordered it and payed with pay pal last wednesday tea time and it wa a lovely suprise when it arrived on tuesday morning. I installed the bridge very quickly and easily and then i started on sorting the action and intonation. It really is a great upgrade. If anyone is interested i will let u know who i bort it from 'cos the delivery was very quick indeed.

I love Badass Kev, need to put one on my USA Jazz, seems like a good price you had there, don't think the Badass 2 would have done the job the 3 is designed for the new type Jazz USA and Deluxe although you probably know that anyway, so I'll stop waffling. Let us know where it came from Kev.

    Cheers, Jase.

  9.
ideally what i want is something that i don't have lots of layers of stuff so i can get to something easily and then put the stuff away again.
a bag wouldn't be any good cos i'd probably spend most of the time rooting around in it
I use a bag type holdall thing and it is the root to all evil :)
