  1. I am a guitarist vocalist forming a trio to play blues and rock covers and original music.

Have a drummer so need BASS

You can hear examples of the style of my originals guitar playing here:

    Some cover vox here:

Might possibly add a 2nd guitar or keyboard one trio is formed depending on how it pans out.

Based in North London so will get together at Mill Hill studios initially, suit 50+ age group but not essential but some experience and playing ability is.

    Thanks

    John

  2. HI,
Perhaps someone here can give me some advice.
I recently bought a used Squier IV deluxe jazz bass which worked ok for a short while and then the electronics failed completely. There is some output but is very very low.
There is a battery powered active eq pcb fitted so I guess this has failed............, can anyone here tell me................ are the pickups passive and if I rewire them to normal tone and volume pots will they work or do they require battery power, i.e some kind of preamp.
    Thanks for any help,
    John

  3. The combo has two valves in the pre amp for that valve sound, and can be overdriven if desired with the gain control.
Outputs 550 watts @ 4 ohms with an extension cab.
It is in good condition, a few scuffs to the tolex, only been used for 4 or 5 gigs and a few rehearsals.
It is heavy, about 35 kgs which is why I am selling it.
Retro look and retro sound........... £350
The lines on the front panel are reflections of the lighting I used for the photographs.
I also have a USA built Musicman Sub bass for sale £350
The combo is in NW London

  4. Hi,
Is the G&L Tribute still available...........if so I am interested.
What is the weight like, is it well balanced without any neck dive?
I am in London, would you be willing to meet somewhere between?
    Rgds,
    John

  5. Hi,
I have recently aquired an Ashdown 550 Touring 2x10 combo.
I can't say I am particulary impressed so far, it does not seem like 575 watts and no matter how I eq it you can either have lots of booming bottom and no definition or twangy mid and no bottom, however the sound is relative to the player and perhaps my Squeir bass doesn't help.
Main problem is at the volume I play the speakers fart out badly on the low notes so i am thinking of replacing them and wonder if anyone has any advice on suitable subsitutes?
The fitted speakers are Ashdown blueline and are 16 ohm @ 250w
Or would I be better of keeping them and using a 8 ohm 15" extension cab which I assume would give me the full wattage into 4 ohms as the min output impedance is marked as 4 ohm.
    Thanks for any help.
