  1. James is a very helpful guy to deal with. I just did a deal on a brilliant EBS 410 with him and he managed to pack it very securely so I could get it couriered to Bath. James, thanks for your patience with the courier (who failed to collect first time around). Top bloke!

  2. Hi James, Great thanks. It should work with plenty of thick cardboard and a roll of packing tape! I wrapped a couple of cabs like that earlier this year. As long as you double up on the layers of protection over the speaker grill it should be fine. Let me know if you get it sorted and we'l work out payment/collection, etc. Cheers, Dick

  4. Selling my legendary SGC Nanyo 5 string bass. I'm not using it enough right now as I'm mostly playing my Fender 4s so it's up for grabs. An original made in Japan SB465 fretted five string - top of the range according to the 1995 catalogue. The neck and fretwork on this bass are stunning, slim profile and arrow straight with a low, fast action and a solid B. Exotic woods, natural oil finish with ebony fretboard, Gotoh tuners and bridge, brass nut and gold plated fittings, currently strung with recent d'Addario Pro Steels. It's in good used conditions with a few minor dinks and scratches which in no way detract from it's stunning natural appearance and playability. Any trial welcome. Comes complete with good used condition, gator hardcase. I can also email PDF copies of the 1995 catalogue which gives the full spec.

  5. I don't think Q.C was an issue on the original Japanese built basses… these instruments are exquisitely crafted, beautifully balanced and equipped with top-notch hardware. I could run a tape measure over either of these if you want.

Both basses were produced in 1995 and feature in a catalogue from that period.

The lined fretless is strung with flats and cops a nice John Giblin tone on our band’s Kate Bush cover. It’s lightweight and faultless action make it a joy to play. Japanese ash body, maple neck, rosewood board, gold plated Gotoh bridge and tuners. The finish is listed as transparent black.

The five string fretted has an arrow straight neck with buzz-free, low action. Light weight, exotic wood topped maple body, maple neck, ebony board with gold plated Gotoh bridge and tuners. It has a natural oil finish and was the top-of-the-range fiver from SGC Nanyo. I only acquired this bass recently as my first dabble with five strings. I’ve since found that the 19mm string spacing is too wide for me so I’m open to sensible offers if anyone is interested. PM me for more details if you think it may be for you.

    Cheers
