My TE V-type was doing a similar thing. It's now fixed and as Aussie suggested, it was a few dry joints. Probably the same problem as my amp is a similar age to yours.

The EQ on its own works fine. Won't having the EQ running before the compressor just boost the signal going into it even more?

When we're talking about resetting the input signal, do you mean on the bass itself?

Recommended tech in Nottingham - Dave Ball - very fast and reasonably priced. Good with valve amps but can repair pretty much anything.

I have recently bought an active Corvette but when putting it through my compressor and EQ pedals the sound suddenly distorts. I've tried turning down the input and output gains on both pedals and also the bass.

The bass and pedals are fine when working separately.

Any thoughts?

Personally, I'm not concerned about the pricing, I just thought I'd throw it out there.

Would it not increase the subscription to BC if the donation made out of love covered advertising as well. I'm sure it has all been thought about, but hey, the world doesn't turn out of love in its own.

As in donations very recently made, or perhaps within the year (i.e. yearly donation = subscription).

I'm currently on the lookout for a boost pedal (I've looked all over this forum and couldn't find anything about it) and am looking predominantly for a clean boost with the possibility of making it a bit dirty if things are heading that way...

Been looking at catalinbread and markbass so far, just after a few thoughts/opinions/ suggestions.

Also, EQ pedals I have a trace elliot V type but my low-mids keep dropping out when slapping and my compressor (trace elliot Dual SMX) is working overtime to keep up meaning I can't use it for everything I want. Any good suggestions going on there? I'd love the trace SM7EQ but they're few and far between...

I think it's possibly solved - a set of new preamp valves. It seems to have solved the problem for the moment, we shall see...

I was wondering whether it was the pots that could be causing it. My brother and I have opened it up (he's an electrical engineer and still doesn't know what the problem is - useless) and it did look pretty dirty in there, thanks for the suggestion.

I was also wondering whether a loose transistor could be the problem with it seemingly losing power? Does anyone know anymore about this?

Hi everyone,

I have a Trace Elliot V-type 4x8 combo. I don't know all that much about technical stuff, but it's a 4ohm output @ 280w RMS and 580w peak and it's a full preamp valve amp.

When playing it seems to be intermittent with it's volume - sometimes being loud and all too frequently going very quiet along with distorted/fuzzy sounds occasionally.

It cuts back into being loud when I play with the volume and gain controls (often deafening me as I turn it up too loud).

Any ideas would be really appreciated as I have a gig in the next 2 weeks where I really need it.

Thanks for your posts, I'm just looking for a pedal that gives nice clean tones + as mentioned above and is suitable for disco/funk, so all of the slapping and what-have-you that's associated with it.

I think "incredible" is a bit too far - the disco band's good though, looking for bookings atm if you're interested?

Also, thanks thumbo for the heads up about the built in supply and letting me know about it's power (which isn't always a bad thing).

I've had a look all over this site and the internet, being linked to this useful site about compressors: [url="http://www.ovnilab.com/"]http://www.ovnilab.com/[/url], and I was wondering whether anyone has got any experience with Carl Martin gear, r.e. reliability, sound quality etc and more specifically the limiter compressor and its sound quality, limitations and downsides.
