  1. Thx Binky. I actually designed my bass ,sent Greg Barcus a drawing and he did a killer job with my build. I combined wal, Ric, and Fodera inspired , hybrid styling which became popular with some of Greg’s bass customers who used my styling ideas to have Greg B incorporate them in their basses.
  2. You’re welcome, binky-bass. I had updated the post description , thus why you didn’t see that at first glance. 👍
  3. The sticker dot inlays can be removed simply and safely with Goo Gone. I detailed that in my for sale posting. 👍 if you wanted to install a very reasonably priced onboard (or use their pedal preamp) , https://lusithanddevices.com/ in the UK makes incredible preamps starting 75 pounds sterling which can take you into Wal bass sonic flexibility. 👍
  4. Just updated my post , plus I forgot to add the cool feature (lighted upper fret dot markers ). Have a read. 👌
  5. Major Brain fart! I looked closely at that one performance (see my last pic with me onstage) back in and around 2015 and took notice that my Barcus did NOT have the dark fret markers on the neck. I ordered the bass sans fret markers and later had my friend (who works on guitars) add those fret dots for me since he if good at lining them up appropriately. I have had so many basses over the years, but this Barcus was kept in my closet and only rarely played it at home. I had 12 string, 8 string, 5 string basses, and sold them all eventually and just stayed with a few 4 string basses. Sorry for the confusion on those fret dots. I completely forgot my bass originally came without fretboard markers. I will update my for sale post wording. Thx much for taking note off that and bringing it up, brother. 👍
  6. I ran my fingernail gently on my fretboard and the fretboard dots feel ever so slightly raised and not actual inlays routed into the fretboard. I rarely played this 5 string. I am assuming he added the dots after finishing my bass with a slight finish coat over them to keep them from coming off or wearing down. I am still awaiting Barcus’ reply on Facebook. I think the bass actually looked better without those dots as seen in his pics. If they are surface mounted fret dots, then they can be carefully removed if the new owner chooses to do so. Stay tuned for Barcus’ reply……..
  7. I will ask Greg Barcus about the fretboard dot markers to double check how he did them.
  8. Ah damn. I didn’t realize I accidentally posted in the Left handed basses for sale area. Argh! Thx so much Piers for the heads up on that error. 👍
  9. Hi all, I had previous purchased 2 Wal Basses (Mk I & Mk II) on Basschat. My two reference members are WalbassUK (Paul) purchased his brilliant MK II, and Anthony Lewis (Tony) buying his passive MK I. I am selling my custom made Barcus single cut, 5 string (passive) with custom made Wal inspired humbuckers . Gregory Barcus is the brilliant Luthier from Minnesota, USA that handmade this custom beauty in 2013. He uses my bass as his profile pic on Facebook (scroll down to find pics of my bass before and after completion). https://www.facebook.com/BarcusBasses/photos ***Take note that my bass was made without fretboard dot markers . The dark fret markers are high quality dot stickers which my guitar tech applied for me some years ago. They can be carefully removed with Goo Gone if desired. The fretboard is lacquered so don’t worry about removing the dots. I had Greg install laser light activated ,glow in the dark top fingerboard markers. Use a small laser flashlight or small regular flashlight and aim it at the top dot markers to charge them so you can see your top fingerboard position on a dark or dimly lighted stage. Greg Barcus’ craftsmanship is out of this world! I am parting with this beauty since I am playing my 4 strings all the time, and the Barcus stays safely in its original, well padded gig bag. The woods used on this bass are gorgeous and give tons of resonance. It has a reinforced , dual truss rod with one Musicman style adjustment “wheel“(see pic below), not neck heavy at all and balances superbly. and I never seem to have to adjust the neck, even during climate changes. Built like a tank, but without a hefty weight. All USA made components, except for the high quality, Gotoh tuners, made in Japan. Super clean condition since I rarely played or required a 5 string. The sweet price includes FREE shipping across the pond which I am sure you know how PRICEY shipping is, especially for a bass from the USA to the UK. It will be fully insured and very well packed. The FREE shipping is only honored by paying the original asking price, otherwise the buyer would pay the ship cost. Thanks for looking!
  10. Thanks for the weight.
  11. Please tell me the weight of your Mk I? Thanks!
  12. Thanks for this info, ikay. Neither link stated the d.c. resistance (output) of Wal pups though. Cheers!
  13. Hello Wal heads, Can anyone here tell me what the D.C. resistance (output) is on a Wal pickup? Is the output any different between the 4 and 5 string Wal pickup? Your help is much appreciated, mates! Cheers!
  14. I thank you much, Dingus, for trying your best to help me with the Wal pots issue. I will try and somehow find Roger Giffin thur searching the internet, and if you have any leads how to possibly find him, please do send that my way as well, mate. You're a gentleman, and fellow Wal appreciator. Cheers!
