Doesn't the newer bird look much smaller than the original!

Really nice looking '76! the grain of that wood is great I could stare at it all day long -

Thank you Guys I must tell you I owe this Bass to my Friend Kirk RIP, back in the 70’s & 80’s he use to prowl through something called “The Recycler” which before Ebay was were you looked for used Guitars when you lived in Los Angeles, he found this for $300 it had been painted flat black primer overall w/ some silver trim, he was going to refin it in mapleglo but when he removed the pickguard the black peeled away reveling the original fireglo finish underneath & he was able to remove all the black paint & it’s as you see today, I think that bit of white you see inside the soundhole is left over from the Liquid Gold he used to clean it up with,

Fender Precision - I don't find the necks at all comfortable and, being the 6'6" giant of a man that I am, the body shape never quite feels comfortable. Sound wise, they have that reassuring THUD!, but I can get that with other instruments.
Musicman - love the sound but it's that damn body shape again.
Rickenbacker - not a fan of the appearance and although it has a distinctive sound, it's not a sound that I've ever found a use for.
Wierd Spikey things - do I look like I belong in a Mad Max film?
Yamaha BB range - Sound OK but they do remind me of a carricature of a PB.
Explorer/Thunderbird - body shape issues.
Single cutaways - body shape issues
SG - body shape issues.
So.... that doesn't leave me with much to look at...

Hi all nubbie here I was googling Piper Perabo & found this thread dealing w/ a old Jazz Bass & thought “this is the place for me!” sorry to be honest I’ve been here before & was going to join but it was the TB posting onslot about this old Jazz that decided it for me I can’t get over some of the reactions the poster has received sounds like it will get sorted out & maybe things will calm down,
Cheers
BTW over at TB I go by the handle 4005

Those are just utterly lovely, especially the '64 II and IV!!! Sexiest pics on this or any other porn thread....
My '65 T'bird IV (top of page 3 I think) is my all-time favourite bass, but there's something so classy about the single p/up II model.
I'm currently modding the Fender / Warmoth Fenderbird I had off BigBassBob with dual Thunderbucker ranch p/ups and '60's type bridge & tailpiece to use as a gigging workhorse - I'll post in the build diary forum (as it ain't a Gibson....)
Some real drool-worthy Gibbos here, keep 'em coming......

Thank you Shaggy! as you know they are rather special & great fun to play, my IV is really a II that someone way back when turned into a IV for some reason I like the II better in fact I’ve found myself turning down the bridge pup on the IV because I like the sound of that one pup in the sweet spot,
