  1. Great to deal with, did a swap for a PJB speaker cab which went extremely well, plus great to chat to another G&L fan about all things bass and the odd dog chat too 😎

  2. Hi people,

hopefully someone can help me out with this?

My Trace Elliot amp blew its power amp at a gig, I quickly swapped it for my back up amp and the cabs were working, a different sound but at at time I put it down to the change of amp, I have since tried 2 other amps and can’t seem to get these cabs dialled in, all the components work but the voicing seems off🤷‍♂️

So my question is, is there something else in these cabs that could have been damaged when the Trace went down?

  3. Mike came to my rescue when my Trace Elliot GP12 SMX blew its power amp section, thank you for a smooth transaction and also pointing me in the direction of some very useful information, my Trace Elliot now lives again thanks to you Mike

  4. Here are my 3 SR700's

Right is a 2012 model, centre is a 2000 era which I had defretted and piezo bridge installed, wired in place of the bridge pickup, the left hand one is a 1993 vintage which I've had from new and was my main bass for many years, still plays well but is in semi retirement now.

    Great work horse basses

Mk5's, Mk6's and a 2 x 10 combo that looks like it might be an SMX 12 band eq. with dual compressor . I'll check.

Also have second hand spares for the earlier Trace amps, power modules,( inc bipolar bear), Transformers, preamps, speakers( inc some of the very heavy duty cast 15" speakers used in their premium cabs )  etc

Will P.M. you if that’s ok

  6. I have both a Trace SMX and an Ashdown but prefer the Trace as it gives me a much punchier sound and plenty of grit, I found the Ashdown a little to sterile but maybe just the model ? I used to use the Trace with a 1x15 and 2x10 set up but recently have stopped using the 15 and still find the 2x10 giving a full sound, easier on the back as well, if I had a choice I would get a 4x10 but I never seem to see one when I have the spare cash :-)
