  1. On my Modulus Q5 I've noticed the top layer of finish (I don't know what to call it you can see it in the picture) is cracked and coming off. It's happening all the way on the edges of the fingerboard. Is there anyway this can be repaired or at least do some damage control.

  2. Hi everyone!

My friends guitar was stolen a couple of days ago from the music academy in Ljubljana, Slovenia. I'll just paste his message.

    Dear friends guitarists!

My Paulino Bernabé guitar handmade in Madrid - 1982 was stolen from Slovenia’s Academy of Music (in Ljubljana, Vegova street 5). It has been taken by breaking the lock of a locked closet in one of the classes.
This guitar has a very special meaning for me therefore I would very much appreciate any help I could get with finding it!
Please share this post and if you notice anyone selling it please send me a private message to check it out!
    Thank you all!
Here are also some of the pictures, if anyone notices it anywhere...

Send me a DM if you spot anything. Thank you very much here are the pictures.

What is this EQ brother...that's nuts! Especially with a Stingray that must sound terrible. No wonder the bridge pickup sounds honky. The Stingray is already very trebly by nature and if you're adding +9dB to 9Khz then it'll be a nightmare.

Here's what I'd do if I were you: ditch your pre-saved EQ ideas completely. Seriously, you can't always EQ the same way. Your amp's EQ is only there to shape your sound when you move to different rooms to compensate for types of areas where you'll be playing. Anything else too extreme and you're just ruining your tone.

Set everything flat and then think to yourself: what's REALLY missing from my sound?

Very important tip: what sounds good by yourself in your room is totally different from what sounds good with a band. And, as mentioned previously, different rooms will have very different sounds.

Also, try adjusting your bass preamp EQ first. A lot of small adjustments to fit your band (adding low end, removing high end, pushing the mids through the mix, etc) can be done on the Stingray's preamp and it'll sound much better.

Just don't go too nuts on the EQ. You can do some tone-shaping with it but not that extreme.

Yeah my mistake it's not +9 on 9khz it's about +3. Nevertheless, I got some quite interesting replies from you guys thank you very much :)

  4. Hi everyone.

I have a Music Man Stingray HH. Most of the time I prefer to use both pickups but there are times that I really want the classic bridge pickup sound. The problem is, I cannot find an eq setting (on my amp that is) that would sound good at both times. That is when I play with both pickups fully active and just the bridge pickup by itself. Right now I have it set so it sounds good for me on both pickups because thats what I use most of the time. It sounds great on every other pickup position BUT the bridge pickup and it's driving me crazy. I have an Ampeg svt3 pro and an Ashodwn ABM610 cab. The 12 band eq on the head is set like this: 33hz -6dB, 80hz +3dB, 150hz 0db, 300hz -3dB, 600hz 0dB, 900hz -4dB, 2khz +2dB, 5khz +3dB, 9khz +9dB. I hope I explained it good enough. The bridge pickup on this setting sounds honky. That's the only word that comes to mind for it. I would appreciate any advice even if it's generally about bass equalization. Sorry for any grammatical errors, It's getting late...🙃

  5. I have a 95 MIM jazz on which I want to install a new set of pickups. The problem is the holes weren't drilled correctly so the result is a neck pickup non parallel to the bridge pickup. I can't drill new holes because it's not that big of a displacement. It wouldn't bother me much but the pickguard that is currently on was cut so the pickup would and I don't want to do that to the one I am planning on installing. Is there anything I can do? On the body it looks like in the factory the holes were drilled in the 2nd attempt. I will post a picture in a 2nd how it looks like.

  6. So I have a 95 MIM Jazz that I am planning on repainting. Right now it's in sunburst. I want to paint it black and finish it with nitrocelulose. The thing is I want the black to go over the sunburst so when it will wear the sunburst will show underneath kind of like what Fender CS does. I am pretty sure it's finished with poly and it has some marks where the finish cracked open from a bump. So what exactly do I have to do to get what I described. I've never done this before so I am a complete noob. Appreciate your help alot.

  7. So I am well aware that the flashing red light on my svt 3 doesn't mean the amp is clipping as it's only at that point it really starts shining. But I want to ask how can I know that I cranked it up too much.

  8. Hi guys I just bought an Ampeg svt 3 pro and I want to pair it with an svt 410 hlf. Now does anyone have experience comparing the classic cab with the Heritage series USA built one. I know the heritage is lighter but is it worth those extra 200€? Is there a difference in the sound or the quality?

  9. Hi guys! I have been playing bass for around 4 years now and I bought my first bass guitar last year (I played a borrowed one before). It's a MIM Fender Jazz Bass made in 95. One of the previous owners installed a noiseless neck pickup on it and it's not parallel with the bridge pickup that's why he had to widen the hole in the pickguard I removed the neck pickup and it doesn't look like someone messed with the holes. So I am wondering if it's possible that they screwed this up at the factory or what else could have happened? I want to change the pickups and the pickguard that's why I am asking if anyone else had a similar problem. And yes I know older MIMs have pickups the same size. Thanks for your help in advance.
    Cheers 😊

  10. Hi guys.
I am a complete noob about this things so don't get angry if I say anything stupid. So I was wondering what are the benefits of having a DI box? Especially when playing live. I don't own one because when we play live I run the signal from my bass into the amp and there's a DI XLR output from which I go to the PA board. Is this the same as a DI Box or what? Again I'm completely lost and don't even know what I am talking about exactly so I would really appreciate any help.
    Cheers

  11. Does anyone around here have any experience on MIM Fender Jazz Basses in mid 90's era? I have a chance to buy one. It's in pretty good condition just a few scratches on the body nothin serious. Are 90's MIM's better than the new ones? Sorry for my English.
