Are the volume and tone pots tight on the pickguard? They could have twisted and you have a bad contact.
Might be worthwhile having a look under the pickguard to see if there is anything obviously wrong. To be honest, assuming the pickups are healthy, there ain't a great deal to go wrong
Volume and tone both tight

Cable maybe? Did you use the same on on both amps?
Tried different cables and amps no luck

Sounds like maybe something with the electronics - might be worth opening it up and seeing if scientifically wobbling some connections changes anything. Can you say what the distortion is like? Overdriving the amp? Ripped speaker?
Like a weak battery in an active bass

Have you adjusted the height of the strings, or the height of the pickups?
If the strings get too close to the pickups you can get a distorted sound. Try lowering the pickup height.
Tried that no luck. Could the pickup be broken?

Any bridge screws missing?
On all strings no screws missing. When I turn the tone down the volume drops

Hi guys.
I recently purchased a 2017 lake placid blue Mex P Bass. It worked fine for the first month or so but every since yesterday it is distorting.
I’ve tried cleaning the pots but it’s still distorting, tried it though a different amp and it’s still the same. It’s not an amp issue cos I’ve plugged in my other basses and they work fine. It’s a passive bass.
Any ideas?

It's not a valve power section so should be safe to operate without a speaker load. Should work fine with the Phonebox as far as I can see as long as it has a speaker out to connect to.
Ok thank you. Thinking about getting this amp, anyone had experience with it?

Hi guys got a question: would I be able to use this amp with an Ashdown Phone Box for headphone usage?

I've decided to part with my P Bass. Theres nothing wrong with it, I just prefer my Spector. Comes in a lovely natural finish with tortoise shell pick guard. The bass is in good condition. It has a fair few holes in it for the bridge and pick up ashtray covers (which I do have).
It kinda reminds me of John Deacons bass that he used in Queens Montreal concert back in 1981. I dont see too many P Basses around in this colour.
I'm looking for around £320, might be willing to trade for the right bass.

Would you be willing to trade for an Ibanez ATK310 bass?

bump. Price is now £250 or I would consider trading for the right bass.
