  1. Thanks a lot for the information. I am considering to buy the bass on the picture for £1100. It is from 1998.

However, the Ray35 is offered new for only £850, and I have read that the ray35 is very close to the sr5 in sound, playability and quality. I am having a hard time figuring out if the second hand, eighteen years old sr5 is worth £250 more than a Brand new ray35.

Can someone tell me the correct answer to this riddle?

  2. Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you know if the Stingray 5 humbuckers have changed during the last 20 years. I have only played Stingrays with the square kind of humbuckers, meaning that the humbucker has a box shape. However, I am looking at the one at the pic in the link below, and it seems that it is less box shaped. The humbucker seems to be more curved at the top and bottom(where the screws are located). Is this an original MM humbucker, or is it aftermarket? It is more difficult to get my thumb at steady rest on this kind of humbucker, and I really prefer the box shaped humbuckers.

Anyone who have any information on this topic?

  3. Hi guys!

I am considering to sell my gorgeous Modulus Flea bass. I have two of these, and would like to sell the black one so I can buy another bass with less frets on it.

This bass is truly amazing. It is really easy to play, and it sounds like Flea. It is particularly easy to slap.

  4. Crap, the deal went down the toilet, so I did not get a hold on the Modulus Flea.

Well, reading the thread Stingray vs.Status makes me consider the Status.

How would the Status compare to the Modulus Flea? Both are graphite necks, and therefore they might be more comparable than the other two? I guess the fact that the mod is a one trick pony, and the Status is more versatile regarding sound, would be a comment on this. But how are they regarding playability?

    Any thoughts?

I visited Liverpool this week, that was a great city. I had a deal with a basschatter to buy a sparkling blue flea, but he suddenly was not able to meet me after all..

  5. I thought about the Status neck. Then I would have to send my ray to your little Island all the way from Norway to get Status to fit it. (I would prefer Status to fit the neck..) This would mean that I would never use the original neck again, and then I would have a Stingray that probably would be very close to the Flea, so I'd lose the versatility of the Stingray. (If a Stingray w/status neck = a Flea sound- and playwise)

But I have to admit, the graphite stingrays are very sweet.

  6. What do you guys think, do I need the EBMM Stingray when I got the Modulus Flea? I also have a Ric 4003, this one stays, but that is because I can never get the sound and feel of the Ric with the Flea. The Ray, however, may be quite similar to the Flea. Or is it?

  7. Hi,

I need some advice. I have a Stingray, a GK1001 amp and a 4x10 Ashdown abm cabinet. Now I have a two year old daughter, and another one on the way, which means that I cannot use my amp/cabinet at home anymore.

I'd like to buy something I can use with my stingray so I can play with headphones, and still get a good sound. If it also have good effects, and the possibility to connect with a computer, that would be great.

As you probably suspect, I'm far far away from being a professional bassist, and I'm just playing for fun.

Any good suggestions on what I need?

BTW: If anyone has a Rickenbacker for sale, please let me know...
