  1. Hi Folks,

Up for sale is a very lightly used DB112 (with tweeter). The cab is only a few months old and has been used for two or three gigs max as I tend to use a DB410 most of the time. I've bought an EA rig and need the funds to complete the purchase the purchase, i.e pay off the credit card. The cab is the black/silver grill version and come complete with a Roqsolid cover. Price wise I'm looking for £395 ono, including a cover obviously. However, more than happy to be flexible on price if you would like to come over and pick it up.

Please do try me with an offer...I have got my eye on something and would like to get it sooner rather than later so you never know...

Not sure about shipping as I don't have a box for it but I'm sure we can work something out. I'm based near Peterborough but do get to travel a fair bit.

Please do drop me a PM if you're interested and we can take it from there. Happy to consider trades, particularly if it's for a small(ish) amp of 500w or so. I'll get some pictures up as soon as I can but it is in mint condition.

    Cheers

  2. I apologise for the confusion.....very simply what the manufacturer does is reduce his trade price by 20% to give the vendor pseudo VAT relief on demo kit....however the vendor may choose to exploit that by using a good deal of his stock as 'demo' and gain more relief/market advantage from the manufacturer...brinkmanship I thnk they call it...you get the idea when the vendor says 'limited stock offer only'.....'to you my friend, a very special price...' etc etc

As I say, can be confusing......not that I know anything about retail markets and VAT......by theway, VAT is not applicable on secondhand gear as the HMRC take the view that it's been liable for VAT once and so has paid it's dues, i.e. when new....if you've been told secondhand gear is plus VAT then you've been ripped..stitches in the arse time...if in doubt look at BassDirect's second hand prices...no VAT is applicable.....phone Mark if you have an issue....not me obviously...

  3. Many years ago a certain Mr Gary Tibbs played bass for Adam & The Ants aged 16....he then got the gig with Roxy Music (how different is that....) aged 17....in fact, I also think he did a stint with Bow Wow Wow ( look it up on google kids....).

Just a thought but maybe join an originals and not a cover band.....always worked for me....now I'm 46 and get told '...youre too old....what do you know...'

...as if playing for The Ants and Roxy wasn't enough....long live Norman Watt-Roy......

  4. mmm....I could be really condescending here and say it's all about first, third and little finger left hand technique....(how many of us play ghost notes with the second finger of the left hand - assuming you are right handed of course) - however, it is horses for courses and experimentation is good... for instance, I actually play ghost notes with my right hand with the little, fourth and third finger tapping on the fretboard in sequence to create a triplet, add in the thumb (right hand) and third finger again (left hand) I get five 'taps'..f**k I must have been bored that night....

Bottom line is don't be afraid to just try stuff....heck, we haven't even talked about plectrum and finger style combined to play ghost notes, include the thumb and we can start talking about James Jamerson and Brian Wilson.....sh+t, I'm even boring myself now.....

  5. It's a small point but....VAT is 20% which the dealer pays to HMRC...therefore whatever you see in store or on a website means that the dealer/trader is actually selling for 20% less than that....OK, so we've established that principal.....

So when folks are trying to sell secondhand/used gear on here why do they try and sell for 10-15% less than list price and claim it's a good deal....?.....in reality they are trying to make more money than than the dealer did......

Now I understand about supply and demand...but I can go into a lot of dealers with pound notes and they are happy to call it a demo and forget about VAT.....look at Soundslive in their 'bargain' section....these are ex-demo, i.e. minus VAT...quirk of the law...

Please tell me why folks think they can buy gear, use it for a few months and then make more money than the dealer did...in the present economic climate.....

As I said, I'm an arse.........sorry for the rant....
