1. Haven't put this in the for sale section as it's not mine, I just looked at it today with a view to buying.

Seems to be in great condition and in full working order, just way too heavy and big for me. In York, UK at what I believe to be a very good price. Can be found on Gumtree or I can put you in touch with the owner.

2. Hmmmm, very nice, far more than I'll ever possibly need but I'm an Ibanez fanboi and it just looks wonderful ... I'm a late (middle aged) starter to all this really, playing rock and indie covers with a small band of like minded fools and having great fun on an Ibanez SR300 at the moment. I have a hankering for a low B but I do wonder if I'd just confuse myself with such a beast (was looking at an SR605 as well) ... thoughts welcome?

Another vote for the B3. Buying a multi-effects pedal might seem a bit like diving in at the deep end, but the B3 has some really nice amp models, too. Even if you decide you don't like the funny noises, it's an excellent bit of kit for headphone practice.

I've got one for sale if anyone wants it, too complicated for me ...as new condition, 1 year old.

4. So anyway, it only took me two years to get round to sorting this out ... but I thought it would be worth updating in case anyone has the same problem. The bass was indeed wired incorrectly,

This: http://www.ibanez.com/supportResources/wiring/2008/EQB_3B.pdf is how it should be but the negative from the battery went straight to the bundle of earth connections on one of the knobs and there was an earth from one of the pickups that went to the switched part of the socket. Easily fixed with a soldering iron, amp is now powering down when unplugged so I'm looking forward to amazing battery life from now on.

Ed,

If the wiring has been "got at" it's possibly because the jack socket has been replaced but wired up wrongly. The black (ground wire) from the batteries goes to the inner ring of the stereo socket and is shorted to the socket ground by inserting a mono plug, as used on guitar leads, which then applies power to the pre-amp circuit. This allows the batteries to be disconnected automatically when the lead is removed, but won't work if a previous repair has joined all the "black" wires together,as the power will be connected permanently.

Playing our drummer's anniversary party tomorrow, a five song set! First time I've played live, but at least it's to a non-hostile audience (well, until we start that is...). Only worry is the weather as we will be outdoors- so we may have to make an impromptu Knebworth using gazebos...

Band name is The Expändables , will try to record and post the set here: https://www.facebook.com/ExpandablesUK

Did my first one last night. Great fun, and not too bad at all!

Gave you a like on FB for your efforts,

Cheers,

6. Can anyone recommend some half flats for an electro/acoustic bass? Can't find any, maybe they don't make them?

Thanks,
Ed

P.S. New (mid life crisis) player, using half flats on my Ibanez SR300 which I love dearly, would like to try some on my Ibanez AEB10 but maybe they don't work on an acoustic?

See my other thread. Check your email or server settings aren't blocking basschat.admin (at) googlemail.com.I

Thanks Kiwi, it's not server settings, haven't figured out what's doing it yet ... I have two accounts subscribed at the moment, both created since the facelift. The EdwardCunliffe one created with a Facebook login doesn't receive any notifications, the new Stratosphere account created directly on BassChat does.
