Hello,
I have an Ashown RM420. It's a great amp and I have worked it hard for about 4 years. Recently I have been haveing some proiblems with volume and gain.
to get the sound I like I have the shape button in, boost the low mids to about 3 o'clock small boost to bass and to treble. I use a foot pedal to kick in distortion and some octave. Some gigs I do don't go through a pa so I use two 8 ohm cabs and volume has to be at about 3 Oclock +.I generally keep the gain under control so even during my most enthuiastic playing the VU stays out of the red.
Recently after some time I seem to loose control of the gain, every note i play the VU shoots staright to max and I get a really nasty distorted sound.
Although the amp does not feel hot my gut tells me it is over heating,
Can anybody shed any light on whats going on?
Thanks,
-
What is it really? How do you get it?
I play in two average covers bands. One is a 4 piece with one guitarist. Said guitarist commented the band sounds thin during the solos and thought that thickening the bass tone with distortion would help. I added more distortion... Not sure it helped.
Is there a good way to fill out a bands sound?
Any thoughts or advice would be very gratefully received ?

Hello,
I have an old westone passive p bass. Its lovely to play but the tone pot doesn't work any more.
Can I replace it with any 250k pot or will there a particular type that I need?
Or... should I just buy a new preamp?
Any advice/help very gratefully received.

Thanks very much, didn't know the pole pieces would unscrew.
Job done, lovely. -
hello,
I have a westone passive P bass. It great and I don't want to change a thing about it.
The only problem is that a small bit of the metal from the pick up pole sticks up and catches my finger, just enough to make it sore after a couple of hours playing.
If i didn't like the bass so much I would have just taken a chance and sanded it down, but I want to be 100% confidant no potential harm can come from that before I do!

any advice gratefully received.
