  1. Hi Richard
just had a look and found this lady who teaches in Hull :- double bass player-double bass player Lisa Featherstone began lessons with the music service while at Bricknell Primary school. Like Gay-Yee, she first joined the Training Orchestra and moved through the various levels. On leaving Newland School for Girls, Lisa studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and then embarked on a freelance playing career. Lisa is now the bass player for pop star Katy Melua and has toured, extensively in Europe, the USA and Canada, a few quick shots of her playing at- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a--iTS-5aMc contact her at- http://www.musicteachers.co.uk/teacher/7a3500f48c64c712719c. hope this helps, let us know how you get on!

  2. Hi Kai, good to see you on here. Thanks for everything with the Bass and for all the Coffee and advice.
Kai's shop is a Wow,a huge lounge, complete with Baby Grand, often being played,by friends and the general public.
He has some beautiful Basses, even more Violin's.
He is also the perfect host, serving light refreshments to customers and the General Public, who are drawn to the window full of beautiful instruments.
There are impromptu jams, interesting conversations, with friends you never met,the smell of coffee and the sound of the baby grand, flow around the building.
Kai workshop is also a must,Instruments under construction and repair, the level of craftsmanship and his attention to detail and skills are incredible.

I found Kai's shop purely by chance traveling into Nottingham,Christmas shopping,my Lady spotted the basses in the window, although there was nothing available in my Budget,Kai offered to check over any potential instrument if I required, several times I posted/telephoned and asked his advice,Kai set up the bass,I eventually purchased, the work was completed on time, for the agreed price,at every stage.I might just be starting on my Double bass journey, but I realized that finding a willing and able Luther, that I could trust was an essential.I am sure that Kai is this person for me,I invited him as have a few others to join Bass Chat,I am pleased to see him here,He has already made his presence felt posting on the boards.

I am sure Kai will help through this forum, offering his help and advice, but please, visting the shop experiencing the Strad lounge and Kai's hospitality is also a must,I am sure Kai would also appreciate us allowing him to work on our instruments.

  4. Sound's dodgy "G string wanted"
I recently purchased Garethflatlands EUB I have had a new bridge and nut the fingerboard and a set up Kai Dase Violins Nottingham, this will be my first upright and I am on a bit of a budget.

The strings are a mixed set the E string was a Thomastic Spirocore,in Good condition, Yesterday walking round the town centre and looking for strings,a local music shop and rental business sold me some new old stock strings from a box of spares they had.
There was no G string but appeared a another E and A and D.The strings are in Tatty packets but unused,A had been opened.the others are still sealed.

    I have E string cat 3885,5 any body trade me for a G 3885.2 or the A 3885,4
    I have a s-38 full scale A string that I would trade for 3/4 A or G as above
New would be nice,Good used acceptable, alternatively if you have these strings for sale I would be interested in purchasing, thanks Sean

  5. OOPS sounds the same but my first bass too, wanted to join my brothers band, told I needed a Bass guitar, only advice given was to make sure it was wood not plywood.Picked it up secondhand from a shop in Nottingham.Any regrets only selling it back when the band went there separate ways and my motorbike needed a repair.
I can't find the money tombboy the world was pretty stuffed when I sold mine, its more stuffed now,Good luck with the sale,Sean

  6. Hi Everyone ,looking to sell or trade this bass.
I purchased it new from Foxes Music in Derby,I am not really a slap and pop player,I am still not any better at it for owning the Funkmachine. It has had an easy life in my hands always Hardcased cleaned and polished, there are a few very, very, slight scratches where my thumb has rested and play marks.I kept it well maintained the strings have been renewed.I have always had the bass serviced/set up by a guitar tech, the action is nice, pots are quiet, everything works and the whole guitar feels nice to play.
I fancy an Electric upright bass,I paid around £550 for this bass new, I would like ideally a straight swap for a eub of a similar value,.I would no doubt swap for other basses,so please feel free to post your offers.I am going to set a starting price of £300,open to offers.
I am known personally to Johngh, should you be wary of trading with a newbie.
    Sean
