  1. Affinity range moved from china to Indonesia around the year 2000. The newer ones have thinner bodies and I believe have a top loader bridge rather than string through (may have changed that recently).
Had a Chinese affinity tele from 96. Miss it actually.

  2. A gentle bump and a thank you for sharkfingers endorsement.
Won't be able to ship it out for a bit, going to be in hospital Monday and then a bit of recovery time but 14th onwards should be fine, have had some interest but nowt definite.
Would swap/px something six string electric, just nowt with skinny necks, pointy heads or floyds. I'm a bit old fashioned/traditional with guitars. Hums or singles, not too fussed. Just nothing that needs major work.

  3. Hi, bought this a few months ago but have realised I'm better off sticking to the skinny 6 strings.
A slight reworking on the jazz design but precision width nut.
No real marks on it, little dink on the fret board around 4 fret, set up with roto flats.
£120 sent by fedex, bubbled, original box and extra sheet of card wrapped over. Could meet West Midlands, I'm near Market Drayton
(May have problems shipping 5th to 13th of jan though).

(The line seen on the neck is indeed the wood itself, not damage)

I always politely decline, even if the offer is really low, and comment along the lines of "If you don't ask, you don't get". If I'm not open to offers for an item, then I'll state in the auction description that I won't reply to offers.

I do always respond to "What's the lowest you'll accept?" with "What's the most you'll spend?".

I share this attitude. It's honest and straight forward for private sales on forums such as these.
I do however haggle with sales people in regards to electrical goods and cars. Have to say my wife was a bit shocked the first time I did this in front of her but I got £50 off an electric oven even though it was marked down already.

  5. Cliff replied to a wanted add I put up Saturday morning, deal was done, money sent and he made a point getting it round to the post office before they closed at lunch time. Monday morning the pedal rocked up at work.
Couldn't of gone any better !
    Many thanks fella.

No bass, but I'd really like more time to learn to sight read.

Just want time to learn, doesn't help the fact that after picking up my eBay "return to bass" bass, the following day I Stanley bladed my left thumb !

  7. Just goes to show that there are some good souls around.
I'm selling off a broken up tele on another forum and mentioned I'd take a decent gig bag for a bass in exchange. Lo and behold I get an offer of a free fender gig bag, just cover the postage. I've offered him some d'addarios for for it (I won't be needing them anymore I think) as I believe every good turn deserves some reward.
Ok, Internet forums can bring out the trolls but the also bring out some very fine folk.
    Some people are just cool.

  8. Thanks for all the input guys. Reading the comments on guitar forums, there's a lot of love for the LP types from the same stable apart from the dubious pots and switches and the nut which can be poorly cut. Seems there is less concerns about the basses from vintage.
I'm no brand snob, tbh I have been toying with a p bass build with nowt on the headstock but for the money I'm certain I'm better of with something from Vintage. For the prices they go second hand they seem to be a no brainer.
Got a couple I've got my eye on from evil bay, one's quite local so maybe I'll be back amongst the four string brigade very soon.
