  1. I had mentioned over on TalkBass....That yes he was inbetween residences at the time....Considering we are looking at close to 70k worth of basses, im betting (hope) you would rent a climate controlled storage for these fine instruments.....IF that was me, i would have also set up a bed, have a loaded shotgun right beside me and a electrified boobie-traped door incase someone tried to break in. Also you think you would just take them to a family or friends place to keep safe. Fishy fishy indeed.

Almost guaranteed this was an inside job, and not some “random” break in and stumbled on a whack of basses, with him only scheduled to be there a short time.

Probably one of my old basses if they are positioned like this

If I must be brutally honest on why I order gloss, is because I hate the way the thin standard finish wears off and is easy to break through. I'll buy used Wals that to me just have unsightly and sometimes weird wear patches.
The gloss finished ones barely need a polishing.

But "serial offenders", ha! Now that's funny!

  5. [quote name='Kev' timestamp='1412371514' post='2568434'] Is there much in the way of tonal difference between the two, out of interest?

    If I'm honest Kev, nothing.

Ive set them up identically and done the a/b comparison and I can't hear a difference.

    Excellent Rob!
Im going to save the link to this quote....you do not have an idea on how many people have it JAMMED into their head that woods/facings are going to impact the Wal tone.
I have had to trick a sound engineer, to get him to shush on the "difference" between two of my Wals. So i did some tinkering with my set-up(s) and they sound identical. The basses were even made 20 years apart!

Good luck with the sale of this bass. If i didnt have 4 already o would have bought this up on day one!

  7. Hi Basschat
Living in Ontario Canada all my life and family originates from Derbyshire UK. I play a wide varieties of music but prefer playing classic/rock/alt-prog. Been playing bass since about 1994. For first few years it was just noodling and figuring out easier songs. Then i went and saw a friends band play and i was determined to get good enough to be in a cover band and play gigs. Around 250 gigs later!..woo hoo. I have played in cover, orig and tribute bands. The last band i was in a Tool tribute. (which was VERY fun)

Got tendonitis in my wrists in 2006 from working at a steel company for 15years. Left there and went back to school for Audio Engineering at a well known school in Toronto (Metalworks). After a 3 year break from manual labour and no bass playing im back to 100%. I have lots of gear/basses/pedals etc.
