Did you sort this?? I am a tech in Medway.

Maple veneer from Amazon (£8.99 for a 2.5 metre roll posted). Other veneers are available but I chose maple for the contrast.

BTW. I have a 2.5 metre roll of maple veneer minus a few fret-line bits if anyone needs any off-cuts.

Frets removed using the pliers and soldering-iron method, but this left some ragged lines where the tang 'barbs' chipped some of the fingerboard on their way to freedom.

Used saw blade to remove the radius at the bottom of each slot - retained saw-dust

Cut strips of 0.6mm maple veneer to add fretlines, these glued-in with PVA, with excess adhesive removed from the face of the board.

Once all fitted, mixed-up filler using PVA and the saw-dust from earlier - this was added as a fillet between the protruding veneer and the finger-board. Excess removed.

Once dry, shaved-off excess veneer using a stanley-knife blade (careful!!), then sanded-down with 120, 320 and 1200 grit until smmoooth.

New black scratchplate added too + black screws. Thinking about black bridge, tuners, etc for the all-over steath look. Has anyone any links or pics to a JB with black hardware?

No worries.

The results using this method are really good - no jagged edges which occur when removing the frets. The CA finish is now completed but I'm leaving it a couple of days to allow the CA to fully harden before a final polish with 4000 grit.

What I did was mix PVA with some of the rosewood saw-dust when I removed the radius from the bottom of each of the fret-slots. I then formed this paste into fillets each side of the veneer. The excess was removed before it set too much, then sanded-down once dry.

It was just a thought that popped into my head when out walking to mutt this morning!!

Subsequently, I have been playing with Super Glue on a beater fingerboard (and yes I did manage to inadvertantly glue a couple of fingers together in the process!!) and the results look quite stunning. Just need to summon up the nerve to attack the freshly defretted board.

Unfortunately, I have exceeded my upload quota so cannot post a pic.

I now need to finish-off. I have read the various posts regarding, epoxy, super-glue, etc, but was wondering whether anyone has tried multiple coats of wood hardener??

For sale my Peavey Basic 112 Combo amplifier which I am selling to make room for a new Ashdown rig.

This is the older 50W model with a 12" speaker, bright switch, -10dB gain switch, four-way EQ, effect loop (pre out/amp in) and headphones socket.

Has been used weekly so a few dings and marks to the cabinet covering, but a very reliable amplifier.

Would be good as a practice amp or for small venues.
