1. Oh, the brown-series GE-7B. I tried a friend's a year or so ago and while I liked it for the mid frequencies, I kinda felt I was missing some control on the lows. YMMV, of course. I think the brown one with a shelving low control would have been ideal for me (to the drawing board! :yarr: ).

Links to mancunianfox's pics; I couldn't see them in his post.
They look quite good, did you use Inkscape?

There's a blend circuit online that does exactly what you're after:

Yup, I can confirm that it works.

personally, i got rid of the m-80 as i didn't like that 'bees-in-a tin' quality. been looking for the perfect one for a while, and thinking of getting a rat-tail.

but, having seen the demo of the FEA dual-band-distortion (currently out of stock), i'm holding out for that.

Thanks for selling me your M80! :yarr: I personally use it to add a bit of grit to my main tone (gain minimum, blend at 11 o' clock). I wouldn't really use it as a distortion, but it might just work.

    Meh.

    Just kidding, looks great! :yarr:

  6.
This is probably one of the strangest ideas i've had, but does anyone think its possible to take the guts of a VT Deluxe, and put it into a rackmount chassis with a 4 button footwitch? I'm planning on moving to a rack system later this year, along with getting a VT Deluxe but i don't want cables trailing across the stage (Main reason i'm going wireless) because they get annoying. Its probably a stupid idea, but i'll bounce it off you guys anyway, you're more knowledgeable than me.

    Liam
Maybe I misunderstood, but wouldn´t the 4-button footswitch be trailing cables anyway?
In any case, you should be able to unless the pots and jacks are directly soldered to the board.
IMO, it´s too pricey to risk f****** up on, but that´s just me. Maybe you could get a pro to do it for you?

    2n5088 for 0.12€ each.
Shipping would be 3€ (5 € tops), so maybe it´s not as good as your eBay source. It´s a good site though.

  8. Would you have any use for a boost or a fuzz if you had them? If so, I´d recommend making one of those first.
Of course, if the DOD250 sounds like tonal nirvana to you, by all means go for it. I admire your testicular fortitude.

  9. Schem for an Alembic F-2B (it has JFETs)

    Perf layout

    Vero layout

Some bass preamp (I don´t think it´s commercially available. It also has JFETs)

And a Fender tone-stack (it has a low output, so you might want to add a booster)

You can ask in the DIY thread in the Effects subforum, maybe someone will have a better answer.

  10.
But his dirt pedal already has a blend control
Sorry, I was having a slow day. I skipped a sentence. :)
What I meant to say (but failed) was that the OP could get a dirt pedal which he liked the drive sound of without worrying about low-end loss, and then blend it with his clean signal.

  11.
Not sure if this is a common problem or not...but I've built a wooly mammoth clone....everything works when bypassed but there is no sound at all when the pedal is engaged! Anything I should check? This is my first ever build and I'm very much a newbie to all of this!
I just had that same problem. I wired the input and output jacks the wrong way round. If that isn´t the problem, you´ll have to use yer multimeter.

  12. You could try blending the dirt with the clean signal, with the Boss LS-2, for example. http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/LS-2/

You could also make your own blender, or get a dirt pedal with a blend control.

  13.
SFX Micro Fuzz? I was going to suggest D*A*M if you can find one.

A buffer to sort out the Mastotron with active basses?
These. If you can´t find a commercial buffer, you can either do one yourself or get Silentfly from [SFX] to make you one. Either way, it should be small.

  14.
This is for our lead guitarist. It doesn't do anything,
just the red LED flashes randomly for a bit when someone stomps on it.
He seems to like it though.
LOL. I´ll have to try that sometime.
Anyway, I´ve soldered the Red Llama PCB and the extra tone pot, and I´ll finish assembling it when I´ve painted the enclosure.

  15. I´ll just wire it at the end of the board, following the advice of the owner of Fuzzrocious (http://www.fuzzrociouspedals.com/). Unless anyone gives conflicting instructions, of course.

  16. All these effects look really good. I´m looking to build one this summer, but I´ve got a question (so far).
How would you wire a Big Muff passive tone control onto an overdrive circuit? Between the gain and volume stages? First thing?
Here´s the BMP tone control schem: (the simple one) http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/BigMuffToneControl/

And this is the circuit (Red Llama): http://diy.musikding.de/images/stories/llama/llamaschalt.pdf
    http://diy.musikding.de/images/stories/llama/llamawire.pdf

Thanks in advance, I´ll let you know when I get a third-degree burn! :)

  17. I´ve just bought a pedal from Si. Very kind and helpful through the process, and didn´t lose interest as soon as he got paid :) .
Shipping was pretty fast, considering I live in Spain.
    Nice chap all around!
