1.
I'd like to try and avoid messing around with the soldering iron if possible and I've read about folks using quick connectors so that pickups can be swapped in and out with the minimum of fuss. Which connectors do I need; is there a special type?
As far as I know, the main players in this area are EMG, though there may be others.

  2. Hi All!

Just wondered if anyone had any opinions on the sound/build quality of both the Mackie 402 and/or the Soundcraft Compact 4 as I have my eye on each of these on the 'bay at the moment. Also, any thoughts on the Tapco Mix 60 or Blend 6? Peavey PV6? Any other small mixer? Need one for monitoring with in-ears and for home practice with CD/MP3/iPhone mix to earphones.

    Thanks so much!

    Cheers,

  3. Hi all!

A friend asked me to come over and see if an old amp he's found "is worth anything". Went and had a look and it turns out to be a dusty old Acoustic 126 which is rated at 100 watts and is loaded with a 15" speaker. I confess I've never heard an Acoistic amp in full swing but I gather there's a decent following for them amongst those in the know.

Now, I didn't plug it in and I have no idea if it works not at all or flawlessly. I have to admit that the UK plug and the 120v written at the power socket is, at best, a concern. I twisted all the pots and sliders and they all feel great but that means nothing at this point I guess.

Despite being in the market for an amp, this is exactly what I'm not looking for. For all I know, this is the holy grail of amp-ness but I am much more interested in a small, portable head/cab. However, I'm keen to help my friend out and to help get this wee beastie to a loving home if there's interest out there.

So, I'm putting this up here just now to see if there's any interest. I plan on making another trip to plug n' play and give it a wee dusting and I'll update here again after that. The amp is in Glasgow, by the way, but can be boxed up, ready to ship anywhere.

I honestly have to idea of the value to put on this. So, because I have to, we'll call it £200 and if that's too high (or low!), you be sure to tell me!

    Cheers!

  4.
It's a rather odd requirement so it's unlikely you'll find exactly what you're after - although hillbilly deluxe's circuit comes close (passive pups instead of active ones).

If you look at the SD diagram you posted earlier you can see where the wires join onto the tone pot - follow them a bit further and you'll see where they join the volume pot.
Just leave the tone pot out and connect the wires to their corresponding locations on the first volume pot.
So, refering to the SD diagram, all I need to do is get the black wire coming from the middle pot and unhook it from the centre lug of the tone pot and just solder it to the jack tip?

  5. Hi All!

As a temporary measure, I need to wire up two pickups (active EMGs) to two Volume pots then straight to stereo jack. As it's fairly unusual, I can't seem to find a diagram that covers the scenario. The closest I can get is this diagram but that still has a master passive tone in the circuit.

Through trial and error, I could probably come up with a solution, but if you know of a diagram that already exists, please do tell! :-)

    Cheers,
    C.

  6. Hi all!

Looking to swap my Dunlop Cry Baby Wah pedal for a volume pedal. It's the original model, un-modded, in great condition, boxed.

Ideally, I'd like to get a non-pot volume pedal (Morley, Visual Sound). Let me know what you've got! The price for a straight purchase is £35 + postage.

    Thanks for looking!

  7. Hi All,

[I know this is primarily a guitar amp, but I thought I'd chance it here in case someone was interested!]

My good friend is selling a couple guitar amps to pay for some work on his car. One of these is a lovely old Burman Pro 502. We don't know it's history except that he bought it from a guy he knew about 6 years ago and it he's barely used it since. In all fairness, he didn't know what a special amp he'd bought. It seems to be in full working order except the reverb doesn't work -- turning it up full just adds hiss. I've taken a good few pictures (sorry about the low quality -- it was low light and all I had was my phone camera) which should inform you to its cosmetic condition.

If you need any other information, please give me a shout and I'll do what I can to ferret out the info. The amp is situated in Glasgow, UK but my friend is willing to ship to anywhere in Europe and N. America and will work with the buyer to ensure it's safe arrival and for a fair shipping price (cost only).

The price is £400 ono. Please post here or PM me to discuss.

    Best Regards,
    Cade.
