Might be a bit left field but have you thought about Vyse amps by Dr Barry Vyse.
You can get a handwired champ type amp with a valve rectifier for a little over £200 in his garage sale.
I got one a while ago with a Jensen PR8 speaker, to make the most of the valve goodness,
It might still be a bit loud for home use when the good lady is watching telly, but a bit of a bargain I say. -
Now Traded Thanks
-
I would think this would have the same beautiful build, finish and slinky neck your #42 but may be a tad lighter as its swamp ash (8.6 lbs).
But I think the bigger difference might be the Nordstrand Big Single Pickups and 18 Volt Preamp.
Plenty of bite and snarl like a Jazz on steriods -
Bump to the top
-
Shameless bump to promote this beautiful bass
-
Finally gone, blimey I think this must be a record for the longest deposit to pickup.
My bass is still available but no amp to test it on now. -
I have my eye on another guitar (don't tell the boss) and having missed out on 2 it might be time to put the money down.
So this is reduced to £850 plus shipping (if required). -
I see Nino is approaching the 200 mark with his basses not fender but not exactly a flash in the pan
If you want to join this exclusive club drop me a line. -
Another bump
-
Thanks Richard I think they need to be seen in the flesh and played to be appreciated.
Once you have had one in your hand I think any one would realise the quality.
So any trial would be welcomed for those not in the know. -
Still not gone if there is any interest, and I have not pulled the trigger on the trade yet as I really don't need another guitar do I ?

Belated 4th July bump for this good ole NYC made bass

Glastonbury Bump
-
Just thought I would give this another bump, before I go for a trade.
Would accept £950 plus shipping, which is less than I have been offered as a trade against a new guitar.
Thanks for looking. -
just for a change a Monday bump
-
Another Sunday Bump
-
No interest.
May be I do. -
Any interest getting tempted by a trade on a new guitar, but do I need another.
Most probably not. -
Sunday bump.
No love for this beauty.
As with the other Valenti's I don't think these are not far behind the Sadowsky's in all except for price.
So grab a bargain before others realise. -
Easter Bunny Bump.
Why not hop along and have a go. -
Deposit taken
-
Still up for grabs
-
I second that they are top notch but as Richard said there does not seem to be much love for them round here, which is a shame.
Pity they don't have the big F or the big S on the headstock.
Hello Again
in Introductions
Posted · Edited by Scuba_Demon
Been away for a little while so thought I would reintroduce myself as have just got bass to add to my guitar collection.
I quiet missed having a bass about the house and fancied another VM jazz but they seem quite pricey compared with my original now. So I took advance of one of the cheap Vintage V4 Reissues that seem to be floating about and I must say I have been impressed at the quality so far.
I would normally class my self as a guitarist but it's a friendly forum so I hope I will be forgiven.
Cheers for now G.
