has this one got a single coil guitar pickup on it like the old ones, or did they change it by the 80s

iv come to the conclusion that im more of a short scale player so i want to get rid of my beloved p bass and get another short scale, something abit fendery.
mim fender p's always seem to go for about 300 so something around that price, sadly dont have any money to put to it.

Ok heres the deal. after seeing a epi elite thunderbird i have decided that I want a thunderbird.
if anyone has an elite one and wants to shift it please please please let me know.

and it has been giged but still in pretty good condition.
