  1. Hi bass chatters!

So, I'm gonna get myself a big boy amplifier. And, after deliberation it's looking like:

    Markbass Littlemark III
    410 HF 8ohm

    Now then, some questions:

If I get the 8ohm, that means I can add another cab at a later date but at the cost of losing some output before I do, right?

Does anyone have this setup? I've played all types of MB gear before at festivals and such but not this exact stuff together. What is it like?

    Anything I should know/consider? Alternatives?

Will I need the cab cover?

    Thanks,

    Mr Pink

  2. Hey people!

    It's been a while!

I discovered that my hand/skin problems are because I'm allergic to nickel. This has stopped my quest for piccolo happiness in it's tracks.

I need some stainless steel piccolo strings that are cheap enough - I did look at these -

but the shipping from the states (to mainland UK) brings the overall price to about $60. Yikes!

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks!

  3. The G#7 is being used as what most people call a 'secondary dominant' - i.e a 7th chord that is not built upon the 5 of the key. It leads into the C#m (V-i) like you would see in a minor sequence. Make sense?

Interestingly, C# minor is the relative minor of E, the key you happen to be in. So, if the tune's tonal center was C#m, then G#7 would more likely than not be used as the V chord.

As mentioned above, all other chords are in E. They just keep going V-I until you reach you home key again. F# to B = V-I. B to E = V-I. Some people call this a cycle of fifths sequence. It is often used as a turnaround or to set up a modulation.

    Hope this all makes sense!

Although i would beam the 16th notes within the beat sub division, as opposed to going over the beat - easier to read.

I am in the middle of doing a 'Rick Astley' Medley for a Cabaret act doing the ships in the summer, so this post caught my eye.
The first tune up is 'Never gonna give you up'...Lol

I think we are both on the right track - although mine is in the written key.

    Garry,

Thanks for the crit! The beams are set by my very old copy of Sibelius automatically.
    Yours looks great!

Purely out of interest, how do you plan on performing the tune in the original key on the gig? Retune, ERB or octave up?

    Cheers again!

    Mr Pink
