C'mon Nick it was funny. A little cheeky for a FS thread yes, but pretty hilarious considering the thread's direction.

Regarding your comment about price above (I wouldn't comment unless you did first) yes many production basses will go for 3/4 of their retail price but that will usually be accompanied by an assurance or recognition of construction quality as well as the quality of the parts. In reality this is a bass that has been bolted together by yourself from bought in parts (and to be fair you couldn't even remember where you got them, which leaves the seriousness of the build on shaky ground if you know what I mean) you can't really factor in construction/labour time on that unless you have actually made some sawdust or done the paint yourself. Ok you have drilled some holes but drilling isn't exactly time consuming - and in a build such as this, is often where any inaccuracy leads to trouble too.

In all honesty I think you may be approaching it's value here but taking into consideration simple little details like the tuners not being fitted as perfectly as they might be as being a potential indicator of the overall level of craftsmanship, I think once/if you go sub 400 it should sell quite nicely.

The big lesson here is you never get back what you put in from a basic bolt-together project. Off the shelf retail parts are priced as replacements and become less economically viable when used in complete builds. The only time it becomes "worth it" is when you do it for yourself or for the love of it and are aware of the hit you will take on resale. Compound that with the fact tha people will think "Why risk good money on this guy's skills when I could spend the same amount on a well known brand/luthier?" and unless you can prove a good skill level you're taking another hit. It might not be fair in a lot of cases but there you go.

Of course if you'd started this thread with less flamboyant claims it might have sold before any of us bass nerds picked up on it.
I do understand the initial suspicions, because i was wrong on a couple of things, but i have put everything right; i've let everyone who was seriously interested know the changes and have re-adjusted somewhat my original post. Every source and price is now correct which is backed up by receipts, so i have no idea why people are still doubtful of some of the sources. I understand that i wouldnt make a profit on this item, but since i paid more than 850 (inc VAT) i still believe 450 is a decent, fair price. I will take in your remarks though and may end up selling it for parts instead, i'll give it 1 or 2 days, but it would be a shame to see this broken up :/

Lets face it Nick, (and please let me know if im out of order here chaps) you are probably a good guy,,,,but this sale aint been 100%truthful since your first edit on it once the BC'ers started to ask questions.

Your 'nearly a grand bass' is now down to about 700bucks of parts at best. your parts aint what they say they are and your prices are well off when questioned!!!

I think £450 is very hopeful. However, like so many BC'ers I wait with bated breath to see how this all pans out!
Your right, i wasnt sure about the electrics and although i said the body was warmoth i did say i would get a picture up straight away to prove this. When i found the mistakes i notified everyone interested straight away. I dont think 450 is hopeful, its just under half of what i paid, It's hardly been used, never gigged, everythings new, i've seen loads of guitars go on here for at least 3/4 what they've paid :)

anyway, enough arguing, im going to play fifa

  4.
You are suggesting that the bass cost you £850 - you also profess to believe that it's value is the same thing.
I don't think I need to say that I percieve things differently

WD Painted bodies currently cost 219.68 inc VAT and they were 180 inc VAT around a couple of years ago

Had the body been a Warmoth, I might have offered to buy it from you
It isn't, and you don't have anything else I want

Have a form of luck with your sale
ah sorry, i just didnt understand what you were getting at before,
with regards to the body, i have no idea, i'll have a look now at the site to see if i can find an equivalent but im a bit miffed that the price i paid was alot more than you :)

and no worries, thanks for the interest anyway

  5.
Neck 170
    Body 276
    Badass 91
    Neck Plate 15
    Knobs 10
    Tuners 60

    Total 622

Another thing that doesn't quite add up... I bought a BlackWD Music body around 2 years ago at £180, and since then everything's been gradually increasing in price - sure enough they're now 219.68 - how odd that you managed to pay £276

    Nice Mac screenshots BTW
but your forgetting VAT :)
andd i have no idea! :S im assuming you mean yours was american alder as well? hhmm

  6.
LOL, I've been wanting to say that for a few days! The seller seems to be going out of his way not to tell us these things, or perhaps it's a marketing ploy, a slow reveal, a bass provenance striptease?
what can i say, it builds suspense? :)
i'll have a picture ready for tomorrow, thanks guys

  7.
A couple of USA's have gone for that on here recently too.

I'm not saying it isn't but the body doesn't look like a Warmoth in these pics. As I said earlier, it looks more rounded and less slab-like than standard offerings. Maybe new pics can allay this?
sure thing, ill get some new pictures up tomorrow, i'll try and take some of the receipts too :)

  8.
Nick, if you could somehow be more specific about the origins of the neck and the body, I think that might drastically change how people are viewing this bass. Just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.
what more do you need to know? I've said what its made of & where it comes from???
