  1. They did get back and the advice was to delete and redownload the issues effected by this - this months Stu Hamm and last months Divinity Roxx issues - and this i did but the video content is still not available. All my past issues are functioning normally. Thanks for the advice, though.

  2. Seem to be having problems viewing the instructional videos via the ios version of the Bass Guitar magazine app. For the last two issues the videos are just not appearing for me, anybody else? The Paul Geary and Philip Mann articles, in particular, i'm finding very useful. I can't even view them on my PC using the Pocketmags reader anymore. Emailed support but they've not responded yet.

I'm thinking of dipping into a 5 string & this looks ideal. £160 with free UK delivery.
    Thought on the Vintage range..?
Don't think i've ever read a bad review & in terms of bang per buck must be one of the best value ranges out there.

  4. I bought one of these off ebay in sunburst 2 years ago from a guy in N. Ireland for roughly the same price. Really nice full sounding pick up, neck feels like somewhere between a P and a J. Every bit as good and probably quite a bit better than the std Fender Mex model. Really can't understand why it is these guitars, Jap made in 1981, seem to go for peanuts.

  5. I recently got Improvising Jazz Bass by Richard Laird and i think that book might be what you're looking for. It seems to turn up regularly on ebay.
Tons of scale drills and some of the more obscure scales are in there too. Advice on gear and getting your sound and so on.

  6. Did a deal the other day for Russ's '50's Classic Precision. He delivered it to my door, gave me a quick lesson on slap bass, went to his toolbox and got the right adjustment tool to straighten the neck on my other bass : all in all he went way over the call of duty on selling a bass.

Great bass, too, i should add. Thanks.

Nice one Russ is a great guy to deal with - I see you are a fellow Lancaster bassist too! Cheers

Hi and yes : I was playing electric guitar and doing duets with a bassist locally. Anyway, he had a MIM Jazz Bass and we swapped as an experiment, and I didn't want to give him it back. So the bass bug bit me right in the gonads.

  8. Mo Foster's 17 Watts : The Birth of British Rock Guitar is at times laugh out loud funny and although it's not strictly a biography of Mo it's more a biography of the arrival of the electric guitar in the UK. If you can find one, buy it.

Jah Wobble's Memoirs of a Geezer. A bit more conventional this one and well worth reading also.

  9. I really like the Dave Marks Melodic Bass Player articles in this magazine. So much so I bought all the back issues digitally - at £2.49 apiece. A 6 issue subscription is £9.99 and for 12 it's £18.99. No freebies of course.

And then what happened is that the iPad app kept crashing, preventing me from accessing any issues. They didn't reply to my email requests for help, either, & that was frustrating. But the most recent app update has sorted it out and it works beautifully now.
