Does the push / pull switch disconnect the power to the preamp or just switch it in / out of circuit?

Asking as the most likely reason for battery drain is continuous power to the preamp.

It seems to make a difference in sound when I pull up or push it down. I have to turn down the pre amp as it was ridiculously loud. But the battery died again today and I only replaced 3 weeks ago and haven’t used it since it was replaced

the chance of two basses having the same fault is low.

Have you tried a different cable? (this could be the simplest common denominator)

Have you tested it all in a different room/building?

and Doing what, to which pots cause the sound?

Seems to be an electrical problem. The bass sounds fine and if I move away from the area the high pitch get quiet and disappears if I move slightly it’s back. I turned all my electronics off one by one and nothing eliminated it. I’m thinking it could be something wrong with the plug in that area.

What I’ll do is send a little vid once I’ve done my days slaving at work. I hear your point same issues leads are different and battery’s are all new.

  4. Evening all.
so I’ve recently purchased a couple of basses a spector rebop 4 and a 5 also a Warwick fna jazzman.

im getting a high pitched whistle when I use certain pots to change tone etc

I’ve gone from amp to audio interface to see if it’s amp issue and it’s the same across the board. I’ve even turned down the pre amps to see if this helps.

any ideas would be most appreciated

  5. Looking to move this on. Definitely trade for a spector 5 string of similar standard.

this is a 2007 german made bass it’s great I have no issues with it other than I don’t use it enough and have recently been turned onto spector basses so I’m looking to sell or trade. Comes with a soft case and has been recently re strung. A few age related makes as you might expect but no horrible dinks or dents.

Please check the link below to hear it in action, I can’t take credit for the playing this is the incredible Andy Saxton putting it through its paces.

any questions please feel free to ask.
    cheers

The only time I recall him with an Aria was a pic on the Garage Days sleeve. He had BC Rich with F&J, then ESP, Wal, Bob Rock's NS2 in the studio, Alembic and Sadowsky.

In between Alembic and Sadowsky he had a signature Spector SSD based on their SD model which came and went in the blink of an eye. He may have played it, but not for very long.

He played it between 94-95 and then shelved it. I got to see him with it in 1995 at donnington and as a 10 year old I was blown away and have wanted one since. Unfortunately they are as rare as rocking horse stinky poo and he owns 99% of them. They were the spector j4 j5 and so on.

Many, many players think that a larger cone equates to a greater ability to produce lows. This is far from the truth as there are 15s that go higher that an average ten and tens, like those used in my Acme cabinets that will happily thrust a Low B all day long. Secondly matching cabinets always work well together whilst dissimilar may not.

Try stacking your boxes on their ends so that the drivers are vertical. You may just love the result. I certainly did! :D

I love your Warwick. My Streamer is still the best sounding bass I own. It's tuned B E A D as I usually now play my six string basses. :)

Thanks for the info man. I have a streamer too and love it.

What, if anything, did you think that the 15 was going to add to the 2x10? Curiosity feeds the question.

the price I paid for both was not far off the asking price for the 210 so if anything it was an investment, but playing with the 15 in certainty adds some clout.
