1. EBS MultiComp Dual Band Compressor with True Bypass in great condition with box, instructions and certificate of origin.

A small amount of paint has chipped underneath the pedal, this happened whilst unscrewing the base to fit a battery.

A great pedal that doesn't get the use that it deserves.

  2. Tech 21 VT Bass Deluxe Character Series Pedal in mint condition. It has dual inputs, 6 programmable presets, FX loop and can be phantom-powered.

Really great pedal that I rarely use. I have too many pedals so I'm having a clear out.

Comes complete with box, manual and Tech 21 stickers. Price includes insured postage UK.

    ***Now £165 including UK postage***

That's not the Comedy of Errors (as in Scottish prog band from the 80s) is it?

    Here are my two doublenecks:

    1975 4080 BG--------------------------1982 4080/12 MG

I used to have a Steinberger Spirit 4/6 and a rather unpleasant thing from somewhere around Korea, but both got nicked from the house we had in Ealing in 2010.

Unfortunately I don't play any prog now, but when I was doing the Rush tribute thing, they did get used.

    Your 1975 4080 is a real beauty.

  4. Hi Joel,

I've been a subsciber for a couple of years now and I have a few observations:

I realise that many people like to read reviews on the esoteric £3000+ basses, I don't but I understand that you need to keep these in but I would like to see more reviews of the "bread and butter" stuff. In fact more reviews full stop would be good.

I'm pleased to see that the references to slapping appear to be decreasing but stop asking the interviewees in the "Basically Speaking" section if they slap because 99% of them don't. Count them up if you don't believe me.

The photos in the reviews rarely cover things mentioned in the review and try to be too arty rather than functional. I've lost count of the number of times where a specific feature of a bass or an amp is mentioned but isn't visible in any of the photos.

Not enough amp and cab reviews and the ones that are reviewed tend to be the same manufacturers over and over. When was a Marshall last reviewed? It's very rare that we bass players can visit a shop that has a decent range of bass amps to try out therefore we have to rely on internet reviews and such like, these should be covered more by the mag.

The "Bass in the USA" column is so utterly boring.

This month's interview with Steve Harris's tech was really good, the photos of the gear could have been better. More articles on "pro's" setups would be good.
Just my opinions and I realise that you can't please all of the people all of the time.

  5. I've used Rotosounds ever since I started playing and this was the first one that has broken so I've no issues with them at all. I nearly always use a plectrum so perhaps I was giving it to much welly! Anyway, 3 gigs since then and no further problems, probably because I have a case full of spare strings with me now :D

  6. I was playing a gig on Tuesday night and, never having broken a string in 35 years of bass playing - you know what's coming - I managed to break the E string on my main bass. No problem, I always take 2 basses so no hassle. Guess what? I then managed to break the E string on that bass as well and to make matters worse, this was the first gig where I hadn't taken any spare strings! I finished the gig on a 3 string bass but what a nightmare.

Bet I don't forget to pack spare strings ever again!
