1. I've not used many octave pedals, but from the ones i've tried i'd definately go for the Micro POG... They sound awesome! Once I sort my amp out, I think i'll have to get one myself!

2.
Bump for a lot of amp for a little amount of what its actually worth! :)
Sorry for the late reply, I've not been on BC for a while. I have a ABM 210 500 EVOII combo. Not just a cab. Are you interested in a trade with that?

3. I was gonna ask the same question as Dincz, but thats opened another can of worms for me! I understand the Ohmage side of things... Im looking at buying a new rig... but want to get the most efficient poissible. After reading this topic i've discovered that your cab should be around about half more than ur amp... so for example, if I had a 500W head, i'd need a 750W cab OR 2 x 375W cabs. And if this is the case, then you wouldn't be able to add or take away any cabs and would have to use the rig as it is... Is this correct??... Actually, sod it, i'm gettin a combo!!! lol

4. Yeah, the cab I use has a tweeter, and you can't switch it off... I borrowed a newer cab to see if it made any difference and that had a switchable tweeter. I'll bear that in mind when I make the purchase. I have played with the EQ for some time now, and I do get a good sound, it just isn't quite loud enough. It's hard to explain, but playing the bass on it's own it's really quiet.
I'm gonna make the trip to PMT tomorrow to try and sort something out. Have you been to Manchester PMT? Is it any good?

5. Thanks for your replies!!
I bet they were quality indie! Especially after hearing The Big Roar. I heard The Chapman Family were good too?
Do you think it's worth spending the extra wedge on an ABM rather than a MAG?
I think a cab and seperate head would be the way for me, just so the weight is shared, rather than a combo like Rhydian uses.
I haven't listened to much of Warpaint... they any good? They're a lot quieter than TJF aren't they?

I've tried to up the bass and drop the treble but then the amp just farts and feels like its gonna pop... like indie says, I think 4x10 might be the way... Will I beable to run a 4x10 with a 1x15? I'm not really up on this ohmage lark. I'm nearly there, but what difference is a 2x10 than a 4x10 in terms of ohms?

6. Well, using my rig, i've had comments saying that the bass sounds thin. No balls. I'm not sure if it's my EQ'ing, or whether I'm better off going for a 4x10 instead. Only trouble is now, i'm really weary about what i'm buying. I feel like nothing will be good enough unless I go 8x10. lol
I really like a band called The Joy Formidable...and he has an amazing live sound. He uses a MAG 500w 410 combo with a Jaguar. It sounds amazing, although his pedalboard is about the size of a coffin, but I keep thinking theres this bass secret that nobody is letting me in on!! :) lol

7. Oh, it still doesn't sound well with the extension unplugged. Not enough bottom end... then when the cab is in, it sort of feels like the 10s are trying to take too much of the bass and the 15 isn't taking enough.

8. Thans for the posts guys...

EQ is normally:- Bass at 9 oclock, mids slightly boosted and treble flat.. Thats the best I've got so far.
I was wondering whether it's because of the carpeted walls.
The guitarist has got a big sound, so I did wonder if its because of that, but it does sound quiet on its own... no bal,ls at all.
The Amp has been off to Ashdown to be tested and come back that everything is spot on!

How do I check if its in phase with the 9v battery test?

Thanks again.

9. I'm currently running an Ashdown ABM EVOII 500 2x10 with an Ashdown ABM 1x15 cab. I'm using a Rickenbacker 4003 and an Epiphone Thunderbird.
My problem is, I aren't getting the volume I thought I should. I'm nearly maxing out my Input and Output volumes and the amp is struggling. I've noticed that if I drop the Bass volume to 9 o'clock, it seems a lot better, but still haven't got the volume.
Can anybody help, or has anybody else had a similar problem?
What amp's would you recommend?

10.
You're amp is definitely the problem. If you buy my Trace combo it'll be solved and make you more attractive to women too :)

Seriously though. Don't underestimate the affect different strings can have on your sound. Maybe a different brand or a set of flats if you're using rounds.
I feel like it's too much hard work in a way. Especially when I plugged the T-bird in an old amp and it was exactly the sound I want!
I don't want to sell the Ricky!! I love her... but I suppose, like a woman, if she doesn't put out, then you have to get rid!! lol
