This is Roxxanne, my Fender Marcus Miller Jazz IV - bought her for my 16th Birthday. It doesn't matter how many basses I own or demo, I'll have a 'phase' with other basses and then always go back to her. Can't imagine me ever letting go - plus I'm always being complimented for it at gigs!

Bonus material: Hideously old picture of us a couple of weeks after buying! (This must have been around 2007?)

Mine has to be my most recent bass purchase and first mod project (and still not finished).

My life in a box:

My '83 Ibanez Blazer.

I bought it off Flat Eric a while ago for £165 and it's the best money I've ever spent. It arrived in a pretty shoddy state and I've fixed it up good! I use if for everything that doesn't require the 5er. I've had 3 other Blazers since and none of them have been the same as this one; none as light, as well balanced, as good sounding or as attractive. I would rather die than move this one on.

Truckstop

Edit: since been moved on and instantly regretted it :(

Long time since I posted on these boards, many basses have come and gone but this one is here to stay.

Its a 2007 ltd edition epiphone Thunderbird, maybe not the most expensive bass I've owned but its the one I keep coming back to that and the mrs bought me it after being made redundant to cheer me up. Got a few mods planned for it for after christmas but don't see it going anywhere anytime soon.

I've got basses for the road, basses for recording and then the ones I truly love like my Letts & Jaydee Basses but I'l always keep this
1982 Pangborn Warlord it had the volume/on off switch on the bottom horn which was later moved to the body
before I got hold of it-John Diggins upgraded the electronics and plugged the hole where a brass disc used to be to cover it
it plays great got a super fast neck and of course weighs a ton but this is my keeper [/quote]

Hi 'Loushort' :hi:
I had to do a double-take (as a JD/Alembic player) when I saw this Pangborn bass.. wow; what a stunner!!! :D
Could you do us a turn and head over to the 'Jaydee Porn' thread and share some pics of your JD?? It needs livening up a bit over there!!
Of course, you don't have to.. but it would be really great if you could..
Cheers & happy new year

This is my first real bass I bought second hand in 1982. It is also my testing laboratory. Now it is original from neck up, except for new jumbo frets. The original bass weighed 8.5 kg(!!!) and sounded fantastic, but also slipped my disc over the years. I lovehate it! It has a chambered swamp ash body with a seriously flamed Swedish birch top, some custom body profiles, like a "more mature belly cut" and a cutout on the "back hand side" of the lower horn to gain better access to the upper positions. Dutch Q-Tuner pickups, I am about to install a John East J-Retro and maybe change the old Badass Bridge to a Babicz Full Contact bridge. Original is for sissies... ;) ;) ;)

If I could find one just like that, but that was under 8lb I would buy it instantly!

Having owned this bass for the last 15 years or so, I guess I've gotten used to the weight (as a 5-hour gig I played on New Years Eve will testify to! :) )
But, yes, she is a beauty to both look at and play.

This is my very modified Squier VM Jaguar. At some stage I'll upgrade the electrics to match the looks  Underneath all the pazzaz is a modest, starter bass but, stripped and veneered, it looks a million dollars and is great to play. Trimming the carbon fibre on the pickguard was challenging - thousands of tiny, highly conductive fibres just where the electrics are...

...one lives and learns
