Now, before anyone starts quoting me spec's off Fenders website ive read them, 1.5". But ive also read that this is not the case and its actually a P width. Cheers. Cheers.[/quote] I tried one & it was definitely a Jazz neck, nothing like a P + the black painted didn't feel good to me Can't measure it for you but I'd say it's 38mm - skinny! Ive heard about this shop but never bothered looking for it. looking through their stock i think i now prefer the Aerodyne Jazz Bass with pick guard. It has a stock Fender pickup in the P-Position and an Seymour Duncan STK-J2B in the Jazz Bridge Position. It's not as aggressive as you may think. The Jazz Pickup has a slightly higher output then normal Jazzers, this makes the volume of the two roughly the same. Still worth considering i reckon! Then its back on the list. And it makes sense to have the jazz pup a bit hotter i guess. Do you know if the MIJ version the same? Its cheaper but there isnt a lot of info on the website posted above. And im not really up on all the Fender models. I love Alnico V pups and would probably put a Fralin P in it at some point. Cheers. If you send me an email to [email protected] i have some really good hi-res images of the Jap ones. (i will forward them when i'm not on the work computer) These aren't brought into the UK through Fender due to the obvious resemblence to the Duff Bass. I Think the Jap one will be more faithful to my original '85 one. It is very hard to find detailed spec to these but i think i have them somewhere. The Stock Alnico V Pickup is ok. But i have swapped all mine out for '62 Reissue PUPs as these are the pickup Duff actually asked for in his Custom Shop basses. Presumably not used to keep cost/spec down? I dunno if the duff signature has ghe same number of frets. Plus this has the active pre amp. Quarter pounder in the P and a Duncan designed jazz pick up. Sean Posted May 6, 2010 Share Posted May 6, 2010 Beware the Aerodyne. It's great if you can live with the body shape. That bound edge drives a few people, including me, nuts. The other small issue with the Aerodyne is that fitting many aftermarket bridges including the Badass requires routing and/or shims. On the plus side, it's pretty and has a good bridge as standard. Probably not a keeper though as with my Sandberg PM4 and US P Bass it's not getting a look in. Horses for courses I guess but I'd recommend these every day of the week. The necks were modelled on a 62 Jazz Bass, I remember reading. Infact, mine is the Power Jazz Bass Special, the same as Prime_Bass. You might be able to get an Aguilar pre in there but I know an East J-retro won't fit.
