Hey there People, Im in a band named RockMelon.
Were a punk rock band, but our set is varied with many elements of different genre's shining through. This is because across the 3 members, our influences vary dramatically, but we still get on and throw some music together. Im into loads of music, from nickelback to the red hot chillis, to soil, to virtuoso musicians like joe sat, steve vai and Mr Big. The lead singer and guitarist however are much more into the libertines and QUOTSA (queens of the stone age) and we are currently looking for a drummer.

Were based in The Midlands Area. And the band has been going since 2006!!!

The band consists of (currently) A guitarist, Me on something we call "lead bass" and the lead vocalist plays what we like to call "second bass" and as i said above we are looking for a drummer. The hole 2 bass thing came from me using loads of crazy effects and distortion wich left the music sounding bare so to compensate we added in the second bass to fill the void. Its not something we use all the time on every song, and its not a gimmick. Its just i like to sometimes almost play rhythm guitar on my bass or double up as another lead guitar almost, i have a 6 string bass in guitar tuning and light gauge strings which allows me to do this ya see. In short i suppose i just like to be different.

Well back to the band ... Last year we recorded in london at The Animal Farm, and got some really good recordings, which are on our myspace. Im currently mastering them and were hoping to release them as singles in the coming year.

Venues at which we have played include, The Leadmill, The Plug, West Street Live, Chesterfield Assembly Rooms and The Blast Festival.

Heres the links to our stuff.

Please have a little look, and if you know a talented eager drummer, please pass our details on,

Thanks for your time!!!

My main band is The Ronnies we do a Ronnie Lane/Ronnie Wood tribute but we also slip in the odd original track like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y06DUa2cDT4
we mostly do pub gigs with the occasional party, bike show or small festival thrown in.

Most of us from The Ronnies also play in a Stones tribute http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4U0J1I2s6Q...feature=related mainly parties or corporates, last year we did a festival in Belgium and a bikers rally in Croatia.

One of the guys also has a solo side project... Glamweazel http://www.myspace.com/glamweazel2 ,the picture is Glamweazel using my 75 reissue Jazz but it me playing on the first four tracks. Ok..here goes..

1. I'm in a band called Suicide Veil, we're a 5 piece metal band from Brighton (our current vocalist lives in Derby though). Our line-up is Sonic (vox), Stu (guitars), Jamie (guitars), PD (drums) and myself on bass. The lyric duties fall to myself and PD. As a band, we're influenced by Machine Head, Slayer, Lamb of God, Dream Theater, Opeth and Katatonia mainly, the lyrics are more in the vein of My Dying Bride.

2. We can be found online at http://www.myspace.com/suicideveilband and http://www.reverbnation.com/suicideveil
We do also have a Facebook page, just search the band name and hey presto :)

Hope some of you like what you hear...the recordings are rough live recordings from rehearsals...so not spectacular quality, although 'Who Has Done This Thing' sounds quite good :)

Cheers :)

I've just gotten started with a brand new project (a few weeks in so far) which has been going brilliantly.. a dozen or so songs written and rehearsed, 6 recorded at studio quality (all within 24 hours of forming as a band for the first time! :) ). Loads of gigs coming up and the material we're writing has that magic you only get with the perfect mix of musicians/abilities/time/place.

Folk / Acoustic / World Music

And I recommend checking out the live takes in this radio interview:

There are a few bits we only throw in live in there and some great performances all round.

Hey all,

I play in and run Crude Measure, a rock covers band based in Oxfordshire. We're about a year in now and we're getting pretty busy and we seem to be generating plenty of demand. We've never played a gig where we've not been rebooked by the venue and we now regularly have to turn gigs down.

Liking this track dude… reminds me of some classic Sex Pistols meets the darker side of Rocket From The Crypt. Actually think it would sound cool with some brass on top as well :)

Defo need to get to a show soon!
I'll go first….

I'm fairly new to the band given a recent 'restructure'. The band is called Aphemia, consists of 5 members (Vocal/Guitar, Guitar, Drums, Synth, Bass) and we all reside around the Derby/Nottingham area, rehearsing in Derby.

I would describe the music as Industrial/Synth driven Hard Rock. I guess it pays reference to lots of artists, but the thing that enticed me to join them was the fact that I didn't find it sounded too much like any one particular act.

For anyone that thinks it might be their cup of tea, here's the Myspace - Aphemia

Hope you all like it!

Right, who's next…?
Sorry for backtracking the thread haha, but i was listening to this and i thought it was excellent, reminded me a lot of Disturbed mixed with the harsh effects and synths of Fear Factory - safe to say it's a damn good combination and definitely unlike any single band i've heard! Good job!

Next gig is on Friday 4th March at The Old Angel in Nottingham.

See you there?
Most likely yes! I'm sure you've played the Old Angel before though? As such you'll know that NO band can sound good through that PA in that room? :)

Ha. Thanks bud! I however am not playing with these chaps anymore (I do however remain good friends with them). I was struggling to balance all the stuff I was doing and Aphemia was one of the bands that I had to let go. They are still playing together though last I checked and the stuff you hear on the Myspace is still played (most of it at least). They are very good at what they do.

Actually it's at least 15 years since I last played at The Old Angel. I remember that the sound was fairly ropey and the PA not up to much, but I always figured that the problem was more the shape of the room (never play anywhere where the largest room dimension is the height). Since Dick Venom is as much about the visual performance as it is about the sound, we'll probably get away with turning up and rocking out!

If you'd prefer to see us in more "comfortable" conditions we have gigs coming up in March and April at The Golden Fleece, The Rescue Rooms and The Social.

Since i haven't thrown myself into the ring yet for this...

My band is called Foxdie - named after the virus from Metal Gear Solid (we do get geekier...seriously). We have been classed as, I quote, Electro Nerd Metal. Which sort of stuck hah! We are a 3 Piece from Aberdeen, Scotland and like being super synthy on recordings then adding some total insanity live (with live bass, guitar and drums...and keytar.)
Influence wise is weird as hell... Rage against the machine (Synths?!?!), Muse, Pendulum, And anything dancey or dubsteppy.

Recently got compared to Rage against the machine and pendulum. Which i was totally happy with since thats the sound that I personally was aiming for! Result! :)

Live is a very fun thing. 3 people - about 4 synths, 1 guitar, bass, drums, and keytar. Also with live vocoders.

We have no current gigs lined up - though i suspect May/June - we are currently planning a video which we will film and edit ourselves. and also writing some new stuff (which is currently sounding LOW... 5 string anyone?)

Link is HERE - please take a listen, I don't imagine it will be to many peoples tastes to be honest, since it is so dance/trance. Why we keep getting put on the same lineup as metal bands, i'll never know.

:) Davie

Pendulum are playing Download Festival again this year and they always go down a treat :)

I'm definately not a dance music type of person, maybe about 7 years ago you'd catch me at a rave but not any more  But I found your stuff really cool to listen to and I can only imagine how awesome it would be with live instruments! Keep doing what you love :)
