Oh it's only a Trooper Boost to put on a mini board for me. I figure pink enclosure, pink knob, pink wiring.
If it goes well, I'll do a little run in October for Breast Cancer awareness :)

That said, I hate working with 1590a, so we'll see how my patience work out haha. Could always up to a 1590B

Sounds good. We're just organising a Breast Cancer charity concert for October. We're calling it Breast Fest.

Enclosure has arrived and is great quality.
The standard 'orange skin' texture that you find on all powder coats, but it's even and without any imperfections. Will definitely be using these guys again!
Will post the finished pedal when built.

Looks good, but completely sold out of B's and BB'S in every colour. Was it like that when you looked or has there been a run on them?

I got a couple of golds, pinks & a candy purple. The finish is alright, looks pretty hard wearing. From what I gather from messaging them, there will be more & not a one-off run.

This is an EH LPB-1 with a pot swap foot-switch added (on the left in the piccie below). This means I can toggle between two levels of boost.

The off-board wiring took a bit of ninja soldering;

Then added the vero-board;

And I can toggle between the red channel and the green channel with a multi-colour LED wired up to match. The Amber LED is the on-off indicater. I can pre-select the channel I want with the left foot switch before stepping on the right on-off switch, or I can toggle between the two while it's on.

New Tremulus Lune to replace my old Tremulus Lune. All the good Tremolo based pun names have been taken, so I called it the Tremolopun. Meta:

I usually don't bother with graphics but this has buttloads of controls half of which do very similar things, so painting is the simplest, quickest option, but an artist I ain't.

Messy, messy guts. Do all you guys who do amazingly neat innards actually have time to do anything else? Looks exhausting:

Hi guys,

I need some help.

My, always on, overdrive pedal has developed performance anxiety. This is pretty much the only pedal I use these days.

The overdrive circuit is fine, it's the added in blend circuit that's giving me grief. I use this one:

If I bridge the some of the solder side connections around the transistors I get fire it back into life. I've replaced the transistors with new ones and the problem persists. I've also reflowed all the solder.
Individually all the components check out.

Any ideas?

I had to turn the transistors the 'other way round' to get mine to work. Some of the suggested ones have different pin-outs to each other.
It's been working for several months. Something has given up the ghost, but I can't figure out what at the moment.

I have another blend circuit already built. I'll just swap them over later and then investigate the wonky one some more.

Newest build, I started making a Death by Audio robot then kind of redesigned the circuit and decided to add a 7-segment display to indicate the mode which turned out to be surprisingly difficult and made the whole thing needlessly complicated but here it is:

Has anyone made a passive / active D.I.Y. D.I. box? Or a valve D.I. maybe?
All of the above.

Passive: just used one of the schematics on the Jensen Transformers website. Voila, Radial JDI clone.

Active: threw a Creation Labs Redeemer buffer in a Bud box with a Jensen line transformer, compared well head to head with a J48, Countryman, etc.

Tube: this started out as a DI project but somehow eventually morphed into a full blown bass preamp: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/a-diy-tube-preamp-line-driver-by-passinwind.345415/#post-4388452
You could easily adapt one of John Broskie's smaller format kits into a really nice tube DI.

Nice info there, Passinwind, thanks for that I will be sure to check this out.
John Broskie's website is Tubecad.com BTW. His board kits are absolutely first rate.

On another tangent, here's my first non-clone DIY onboard preamp:

Format is B-M-T with separated passive treble stack, switchable mid center options currently set at 720-1600-2400Hz. Current draw <1mA, polypro film caps used wherever feasible. Once I get the prototypes ironed out I intend to shrink it substantially with surface mount ICs and resistors. The design is based on my DIY amps and preamps done over the last couple of years, but I haven't done too many battery powered DIY designs before and have lots to learn about optimizing for low power parts. Keeping it simple isn't really my forte, love the challenge.

Beauty!

Made by Oshpark, right? I have my fair share of the "purple pcbs" too :D
Sweet, what do they do? OSHpark is local to me and I have used them for quite a few boards over the last few years. For quickie prototypes their business model works really well for me.

Here's my version of the ubiquitous Stingray 2-band clone preamp:

I think maybe one resistor value is original, pretty much everything else is gently modded in one way or another.

Hey Guys

I was thinking of having a go at making a phase pedal and thought this would be a good place to start :D

I'm tempted by the P45 clone.....

http://www.musikding...45er-Phaser-kit

And was wondering if anyone had tried it, or could suggest any alternatives (maybe a P90 clone)?

Thanks!

Hey Colin,

Thanks for the reply, I think I'll get the P90 and give it a go. Although I've just noticed the dirt dessert Prunes & Custard clone and that's mighty tempting.....

I'm a bit of a phaser junky, built a few now. I'd recommend the Maestro Stage Phaser It can get really deep & resonant, with no low end loss. Madbean does a nice pcb of it: 'Stage Fright'
It's my current favourite phaser...but that might change once I've finished off a Mutron II clone! :)

Looks good - but it might be a bit too much for a novice builder. (I'm making a huge presumption here - so please forgive me if I'm wrong, Jonesy.)
