Thomann are going to be the ruin of me if they're going to keep offering brand new Gibson basses for sale at second hand prices. I pounced on a Midtown Standard.

And to press the point home that I might have a problem - here's the black headstock club:

Just in case anybody's interested, I've got a spare (unused) scratch plate for a Les Paul Triumph (same as the one pictured). PM me!

I love this old fella. It's an all original (I think) 1974 (I think), Gibson Les Paul Signature bass. I spent ages looking for one, and vowed to sell the Epiphone Jack Cassidy when I got one.... but didn't!

It's a bonkers tone circuit, and, as it's a full scale length, it has a bit more twang than most of the shorter scale Gibson semi-acoustic basses.

My Gibsons. The ES335 is totally amazing and the Les Paul is a real tone monster that is massivley underated and has a powerful output for just about any style.
think they stopped making the ES335 after a year as Gibson tend to do. Hopefully they'll reissue the Les Paul Signatures soon!

I'd love a go on a Les Paul bass, they have a charm to them!

Mmm, EB3L. I acquired one of these earlier this year: http://basschat.co.u...s-gibson-eb-3l/

Suffers from terrible neck dive, but i don't really mind as it sounds fantastic :-)

Yes I did notice that these basses tend to be a bit neck heavy, but it don't bother me in the slightest. It sounds great even with the terrible flats stringss that are on it so it should sound immense with new strings (and a set up).

Since selling my LP Junior DC a few months back I've been without a Gibson bass for the first time in 30 years. Fixed my withdrawal symptoms with this nice 2014 SG 120th Anniversary Special off the forum.

I've given it a thorough set-up and it's a really nice player - probably as good as the more expensive 2008 SG re-issue I sold and immediately wished I hadn't. Not totally sure about the flat cherry finish yet; definitely understated but it's kinda growing on me. Just thinking about what to do - if anything - about the 3-point bridge. I can live with all its deficiences except having the string windings on the saddles. What do you guys recommend?

Pic's not posting - I'll have another go!
