Blimey - it's a Rick copy! Where the hell did that come from? Japan, obviously. The little generic JapCrap tuners combined with through neck suggests a product from the Rokkoman/Maya concern. Yours for an eye-watering £445 or higher.

Most of 'em are, though!

I did mean to post it in there as well, forgot, and then it ran out...

I think the Rickenfaker thread was better as a discussion of all things Rick-shaped & a bit shonky, rather than just being for Ebay listings - they're way too few & far between. Doubt if anyone on here would pay Ebay prices anyway.

Well, my 1974 MapleGlo Fretless 4001 came from the Bay, and I was VERY happy to pay the eBay price - seeing as it was rather less than half the bass's true value.

Excellent - pics in the porn thread? :) Occasionally one slips through - I've had a few steals where either the listing stayed inexplicably invisible, or the person didn't know what they had.

Odd/wrecked P/J thing, attracting attention because the neck looks like it's from an early Ibby Blazer / Cimar Stinger. Appears to have had a refin in boot polish:

Nothing about that suggests it's anything other than a generic cheapo J copy with a period-incorrect Ibanez transfer slapped on it.

Worth bearing in mind, [b]no[/b] Ibanez copy had that style of logo, ever.

Absolutely. I think the logo first appeared on the JEM series in the late eighties, by which time Ibanez had long since given up on direct copies.

Though to be fair to the seller, he's not actually selling it as an Ibanez.

I'd hazard a guess that's because one or two people have pointed out to him that it isn't one. I can't think of any "Lawsuit" era J copies (except possibly Tokai) with a rosewood board & dots - they all seemed to copy the late 60s/70s types with block inlays.

Later MIJ copies - non-export ones, like Feranandes, Yamaha, Greco etc featured dot boards - but I [i]really[/i] doubt if this is one! :)

Ah, bugger it - I must admit I did expect it to do a little better than it did! And the buyer is a local guy so I won't even make a couple of quid on postage! :) :huh: Well, you win some, you lose some. Stew - you should've made me an offer!

The other Franconia is medium-scale, as far as I can tell - and to be quite honest [size=1][color="#FFA500"]they're a bit sh!t[/color][/size] - I'd keep an eye on that rather nice-looking Columbus (270192460249) & see if you can talk the seller into posting it.

Except, for some reason, it was defretted before I got my hands on it. Let's just say it most certainly doesnt sound how it looks anymore! :)
